Title: Suspension settings
Post by: zevans on July 07, 2005, 02:22:51 PM
I\'m going to go for super duper alignment when the new wheels go on - it\'s about due and I\'m fairly certain the castor or the tracking is off on the front right. God knows I\'ve hit enough potholes and exit kerbs in 20000 miles.

So...

The car "pushes" a little bit on slow corners (understeer) - and I can dial most of it out by adapting my driving style, but I think it might be time for a tweak. I was going to ask the tyre place to reduce toe-in on the rear if there is any (from reading other forums it seems most RX8s have a little from the factory.)

Can anyone think of a good reason not to do this? Any other recommendations? I don\'t think braking stability will be an issue as I don\'t really trail-brake in this car anyway (unless setting up a slide!) Only downside I can think of is sweepers in the wet will require more care.

Remember this is for an RX8 - same theory of course, but just a warning before anyone starts posting numbers I should go for, or worse looks at this thread and uses them on an FD...

If it turns out that I\'ve got toe-in where I shouldn\'t have, right now, then I\'ll just get it reset to the lower limit of factory recommendations and see how it is.

Just out of interest for anyone in the NW, I\'m using Thistlethwaites in Bolton to get it sorted!

its pretty similar to an FD suspension wise ... for a starting point I\'d guess it wouldn\'t be too far off
