Title: Gearbox filler plug
Post by: nikp on July 07, 2005, 10:31:02 AM
Hello - does anyone know what tool or socket adapter, or whatever, i need to use to undo the gearbox filler plug?

(I would phone Shy, but i think i\'ve bugged them enough!  :p )

Cheers!

Mines just a square nut type plug. I used an imperial adjustable spanner, but I\'m sure a metric one will work just as well. :)

You\'ll need some way of pumping the oil into it to, it\'s not easy to get to!

Yeah, i know about the oil situation. I\'ve figured out that I shall get an old fashioned oil dispenser \'thing\' from halfords - they have flexible necks, so should do the trick! Might be there a while though, what with having to pump 2.5 litres of oil!

Sounds like the sort of thing I used. Made by Draper and very crap.

Prepare to get messy!

Did mine using funnel and tubbing from the engine bay and didn\'t take too long. Had to fill from the check level though as the filler bolt head was completely smoothed.
