Title: Jacking points and undertray removal
Post by: Spotlamp on July 05, 2005, 01:49:36 PM
I need to jack my car up tonight to try and find a leak that\'s appeared in the cooling system.  Is the undertray easy enough to get off?  Secondly, where\'s a good place to put some axle stands?

Cheers
H

under the front axles? ;)

I find that getting them under any of the solid mount points for the suspension work well.

Once it\'s on the stands give it a good rock from side to side to make sure it\'s secure and leave the trolley jack in place but not actually lifting from the stands as an extra safety measure.

Also chock the rear wheels and leave it in 1st.

Make sure you have someone who regularly comes to check on you too just in case.

lol I tried removing my undertray to find a leak and failed miserably.

Going to RE Worx on Thursday now as long as the coolant stays in that long  :D

I have mine actually set the axle stands under the suspension arms. but generally speaking i would agree with Iain - jack near the suspension points - after all, they\'re designed to take the weight of the car at those points!
