i have been looking at omse very nice wheels that i want to get for my FD but still have not decided whether to go for 18s or 19s, i have another dilemma thou.
the wheels i want they do in 8, 9, or 10 inch wide so wot should i go for??
8 on front and 9 on back
or
9 on front and 10 on back
im not sure pls help
I\'ve recently faced this dilemma.
I chose 18\'s over 19\'s as the best compromise over handling and looks.
19\'s generally look to big on a non kitted rx-7, also handling would be adversely affected. On 18\'s, 18x8 front and 18x9 rear would be fine.
You could go slightly wider (fr 9 and rr 10).The wider you go the more you\'ve got to consider the offset (the lower the offset the more the wheel will sit out of the arch, higher it will sit in and and under).
Stock offset on a 16" wheel is +50
Safe Offset on a 18" wheel for an FD is +40 all round. If you have dished wheels then you can go lower slightly e.g fr + 36 and rear +38 giving you a deeper dish effect on an 18x8 and 18x9 set up)
I would avoid 19\'s unless your car is for show only....

cheers for the advice mate i think i will go for 18\'s, the ones i want the spokes go right to the edge anyway so they will look big.
17 or 18\'s are the generally accepted best for handling. 19\'s will generally not track nicely and will give an incredibly harsh ride.
I\'m running 17\'s 8.5 front and 9.5 rear. I would think the wheel width limits would be about the same - it\'s the tyre width that will prevent or cause rubbing. Most max the fronts at 235 and rears at 255 or 260.
hi i run 8x18 (235,40,18) front, and 9x18 (265,35,18) on the back and it handles really good (with less camber) make sure you get th eright offset as it makes a massive difference !,i cant remember the offset of the top of my head but i could find out if you want cheers craig
I have 18x10J +22 offset with 275\'s on the back and damn expensive are tires, not to mention alot of work to get them in there! Always get an expert to check your wheel widths and offsets - unless you want to pull your arches out to fit them in there!
ok cheers, im prob gona go for 8x18 front and 9x18 back, just hav to make sure i get the right offset
