seems to squeele sounds a bit like a fan belt when they slip does it every time it gets to 3000 rpm could it just be somthing sticking that is easy to fix or would i need a new 1. it all seemd to come when i fitted a boost controler whitch i dont think is in right.i would like to take it out along with the air con whitch i have seen posts for .would just like to know if this squeele is going to do some long turm dammage to my car 93 fd3
thank you for any help you could give :chat
Does it continue to squeel past 3000rpm?
Take the belt off and feel for any play on the shaft, must say its quite unusual for an airpump to let go, unless its swallowed something maybe?
You\'re sure its the air pump btw?
only does it at 3000 rpm then runs mint just been to have a look has a little blue sticker on it saying air pump there is a pipe from the air intake that goes in to it if that helps.i was just wondering if it does stick is it going to take the rest of the engine out,if so ill just leave it on the drive till i can find some 1 in yorkshire that can take a look at it.
thank you for your help btw
Dont think it will damage the egine, it may lead to a bit of CAT damage though. (If its not working)
ill just take it slow ,it has its mot soon so will take the cat off after that it does spin so im ashuming it does work but sticks was hoping a bit of wd40 would fix it but it says dont iol on the litte sticker lol nothing ever simple :)

I\'m pretty sure that it only supplies air to the cat on idle, not when driving normally. I think the overall effect on the cat will be negligible, as long as you\'re not stuck in traffic all day long.
If the pump is the same form the 2nd gens to the 3rd gens then I have two spares if you need one :)
The air pumps do fail, and when they do sieze it takes the belt off which also helps drive the water pump which then results in lots of bad possibilities. So its not a good thing to let it squeel.
