Some how over the last week the battery on my car has decided to go flat on me and now i cant get in to my car. It\'s parked in my garage, which i very tight and, because of the alarm i think, the keys wont open up the doors. How can i get in so i can open the bonnet and get to the battery to jump start it?? The key for the boot doesnt work either!!
How about jacking it up, and connecting a battery charger or jumper cables to the starter motor?
I could do but do but the handbrake is on and i cant get it out of the garage!!! :( Gonna try the AA though a mate, see what they can do.
Fun Fun Fun

So, why cant you jack it up the garage?
I dont understand why the key wont open the door??????
As far as I know , there is no way to open the bonnet without sacrificing the bonnet or the front bumper :-((
Thanks for the help guys. In the end a helpful man from the RAC was able to sort it out. He got power in to the car via the starter motor so i could unlosk the doors though the alarm. Then it was just a matter of jump starting it.
I have now idea why the doors wouldnt unlock with the key ???
I couldnt jack up the car as my garage is so tight i cant even get to the front of my car ha ha

Do you have more than one key?
If yes, do they all work the ignition?
Will the doors lock manually via the keys? (Alarm deactivated when you try)
Could be you have some dodgy recut keys :)
I have 2 keys. 1 for the ignition and 1 for the doors. I have had problems with the drivers door lock before but had got that sorted and to be honset i\'ve never used the passenger side 1.
All is fine now but will have to maybe get the locks looked at properly at some point. In the mean time, will just have to make sure the battery doesnt go flat agian :)

Glad to be of service :D
Good that you got it sorted in time to go to the Guildford meet!

hy not just drag her out, cant do any harm, takes 10 mins.
Ok so now i\'m even more pi**ed off. went to get in to it again last night and the battery was flat again. luckily this time i hadn\'t locked it so was able to get in. am now charging the battery before i go get it, and the alternator tested!! NOT HAPPY :reallymad

also worth investing in a battery charger that you can leave plugged in and it charges you battery and checks the voltage ( once its charged it uncharges it for xx mins , then charges it again ) - keeps the battery in tip top condition
only 1 major problem - you need power in your garage for this to work
my dad has one on his bike and swears by it
stu
Adam,
What aftermarket things that requirew battery power doi you have?
For the time being it may be worth disconnecting the negative battery terminal until you discover the culprit. (Ie park up, take terminal off and battery will stay charged)
drip charger! my dad uses one on his bike too! every car thats left untouched for long periods of time should have one.
great toy.

Not sure if this has been mentioned:
I\'d check your earthing straps, look for corrosion etc. Also check your wiring to the alternator is fully connected, I found on my car a few weeks back whilst doing some checks 1 of my wires was hanging on by 1 strand.
Failing that if you have trouble getting in again, a good brick unlocks any vehicle!!!!!!!! (only joking mate).
Thanks for all the surgestions guys. will look in to the charger and earthing straps. I think the problem was with my side lights though. Is there a relay for them as i think it must of been something like this that had got stuck and left them on when i thought they were off.
Have taken the battery out and charged it enough to get the car started. Took it to a local battery place and they said it\'s getting charge (so alternator is ok) but it was flat and to give it a good charging up. Have done this and when i put it back in the lights seem ok again now, but will have to get them looked at... amoungst other thing!!!
thanks again guys, lots to think about now
