There should be some light smoke on start up for not much more than around 30 seconds. It should be light blue in colour.Anything more than that and maybe something is tired in the engine or one of the turbo\'s is on it\'s way out, just keep an eye on your oil level and keep it topped up.

" \'Hi\' new here...

I have an Rx7 and just checking in as I have a problem etc etc etc.."

Sorry I can\'t offer advise as I don\'t know what car you have, what mileage or condition or even if has a turbo(with regard to smoking) or anything to go so as to give you PROPER CORRECT infomation that will help you.

 Good Luck

"Hi"  :rolleyes:

Now with the slow improvement and that we are educated a bit more on your problem, I\'ll try to assist....................

With the Rotary, smoke on start up and on hard acceleration can be classed as acceptable if not normal.  This seems more pronounced after rebuilds and heavy mods.

As you said it does taper off etc after awhile, so sounds about right.

You also have a very big plus on your side (IMO) by having a WGT rebuild and set up.  I only have good things to say about pip and WGT.........  :yes

dom ,

you need to lighten up matey - go easy on the new comers- we dont want to scare them away

dean , if the car is that new along with the rebuild - drop pip a line and see what he says - has it had its first service after the rebuild ?? im sure pip has to do this has he rebuilt it

it doesnt sound toooo serious - just keep a close eye on fluid over the nest few 100miles - and dont forget - dont boot it from cold and let it cool down before you shut her off

welcome to MRC

 Honestly yes...

It\'s like phoning a doctor and telling him... "I have a cough in the morning with the shakes and by breakfast I am fine, is this normal?"

How could a doctor give advise, he doesn\'t know the blokes age, what he ate, what he\'d done the night before, This bloke could have asthma, cancer, aids....and the lists goes on.....   !!!
Any advise without proper information could be detrimental to a situation!

Geezze, in my line of work this could be catastrophic!

Agree with Trex in that you really should put the spec of your car when posting a problem.

it was his 2nd post - dont jump down the poor blokes throat over it ...

this place just to be full of love and happy thoughts !!

but here is one of trex\'s first posts :

QuoteHelloooo....

My sunroof motor runs but does not move the actual door, suspect the motor gear worn out and just slipping on the actuating cables to run the door.... I assume this is the set up(normally is this type) and also hope it\'s just the motor or gear that needs replacing instead of a busted/broken worn cable assembly as it would probably be cheaper and less hassel...

Anyone with experience of this problem as I believe it\'s a common problem with these electric sun roofs!

I\'m hoping to strip it down for assessment sometime this weekend..
Any tips, pointers or advice welcome.......

Oh, I can\'t seem to get the bleeding gear knob off!!
Got a sweet MoMo one to slap on, but can\'t for hell remove the original................

Ta.

i like how he tells us exactly what car he has :) and seems to be here just to get problems fixed

this post is not to be offensive dom just pointing out that you have done the same in the past

Ta

Here is a bit of useful advise for TREX so that when he would like to give out info on the above problem again he is in a better position to do so.

ALL rotaries tend to smoke a little on startup. That is the nature of the engine,a small amount of oil is injected into the engine on startup to lubricate the seals. My answer covered turbo\'s too just incase.Model and age are irrelevant as the advice is still the same.

I think you will find that what I said was simpler and much more straight foward than your complicating things for the poor guy,now we may have lost a potential member due to the shenanigins on this thread.
