Title: wiring drivers door lock motor with clifford concept 650 alarm
Post by: RobbieRX-7 on June 24, 2005, 04:36:23 PM
hello folks

i recently had a clifford concept 650 alarm installed into my 1992 jap import r1 fd, but the guy who installed it said it would cost me £80 more to have a solenoid fitted into the drivers door. i would be really interested in how poeple have gone about doing this job like where they fitted the solenoid and how they connected the rods to the cables, how they routed the wires through to the door and how they wired it to the clifford concept alarm. I need to know what colour wires i need to use from the clifford unit and if i need to use relays. I have done my search on this forum but i need some pics to be sure. sorry for the fussy questions lads but i really cant be doing with damaging my new alarm and using the key to unlock the doors is a git! ANY help will be much welcome..thanks lads!!

Hi,

Sorry I cant be any help on the technical side, only to say I feel your pain!  The company who installed mine charged me an extra £75 (after originally ensuring me that they had worked on an RX before with no probs with locking) and kept the car for 2 extra days!!

Hope you can sort it.:)

Hi, I cant help with the wiring issue as I did not fit my clifford myself.  But having worked behind the door card extensively of late (and having fixed my clifford alarm door lock solenoid setup due to bad workmanship on the part of the initial installer - Sextons Reading, whom I strongly advise to steer WELL clear of) I can confirm the only sensible place to install the motor is underneath the doors manual locking switch approximately 7" down and 3 to the right (toward the rear of the door).  A sensibly sized and strong rod is then attached to the motor arm and the other end of the rod to the manual door locking cable, so that the motor pulls and pushes the cable to operate the central locking as if off the door lock, but now operated by the alarms keyfob.  Â£80 is very expensive for a motor!  Got mine for £25 and Rotechnics were selling them for about the same.

Cheers
