Post by: leggysrx7 on June 16, 2005, 09:30:33 PM
Hi.

My car\'s booked in for next Friday to get the rear bushes replaced, looking for ideas what to expect price wise??

Thanks

Marc

£50 per bush + fitting.
Fitting shouldn\'t take more than an hour or two, it\'s pretty easy :)

Took me 2.5 years to get mine replaced, if it\'s the top and bottom ones then you\'ll be amazed at how much of a difference it makes.  I feel safe going round corners now, always felt like it was twitchy with some oversteer...

Paid about the same too...

Hmmmmm just a quick question.... The rear lower arm bushes can be replace? I thought the ball bearing bush are embeded into the arm and cant be replace... Or perhaps I\'m very wrong.....

I had one of the bushes replaced in mine - what a difference.  The bush was around the £55 mark.  I have enquired only today with a company about buying all (12?) for the rear end of the car to see how much they are.  I will probably fit myself then have all laser alighnment done.

How can you tell if they need replacing? Or are you replacing as a matter of course?

Worn rear bushes were picked up at last m.o.t pillow bushes i think they are called, but scraped through, but there is a definate clunk whan i hit a bump,
so i will probably get both sides done along with new fuel filter,as that sounds nasty job!

Jack up the car so the wheels clear of the floor. Grab the wheel and push pull towards and away from you top bottom left and right. If there\'s any play you\'ll soon feel it, its just a case of seening which bush it is then. Top pillowball bushes were borderline on my Cosmo last test so i\'m going to replace them other the winter
