Title: poorly car
Post by: 907 on June 15, 2005, 10:33:10 PM
Finally got the car through the emission test only for it to break down the following day.
Whilst driving down a hill in traffic this morning the engine just cut out and would not restart, left it for about 8 hours and tried again, this time it started and ticked over just fine.  When I then went up the road lots of popping and banging and smoke, felt like it was fuel starvation.
I changed the fuel filter first and still plenty of popping and smoke.
I then did a compression test fearing the worst and they all read about 6.5 bar.
I changed the ECU for the stock one from the power fc and all now seems well.
Is this likely to be a problem with the power fc as it has only done about 30 miles and seemed good until this morning.
I will plug it back in tomorrow and see what happens this time.

Any opinions would helpful.

Cheers Neil

did you change your map for the emisisons test, to run very lean?

If so have you reset the map?

yes I did change the map and then put it straight back to normal.

I have tried the power fc again and the car wont start but appears to be fine with the stock Ecu fitted.
