Post by: chrisJDM on June 14, 2005, 09:58:04 AM
I have been looking into uprating osme of my cooling components,  am looking at getting a koyo radiator, new aluminium air seperator tank, samco hoses.

I have looked at gettin a new radiator cap and looking on sites i can find

greddy at 1.3 bar

blitz at 1.2 bar

and i understand standard is 0.9

which is best to go for????

I thought there was a recall by Mazda who uprated the caps as standard from 0.9 to 1.3

Of course i may be wrong!

Only use the 0.9 standard one, buy from mazda dealer. The others can cook the engine and yes there was a recall. I took advice on here when i was doing my cooling system. Full boost water temps 95.:wave

the water is kept in place in the rotary by rubber seals. to much pressure will overwelm the seals. you increace the pressure because for each psi you increace the boiling point by 1 degree. so water boils at 100c therefor a 15psi cap will allow the water to reach 115c before boiling.

you dont want your car anywere near that hot so you wont need the cap

as far as i know:wave

You can get good aftermarket rads in britain, i have a PWR race rad from reworx, seems a lot better than the standard. its also a good idea to get an Aluminium AST tank, i had two plastic ones split on me...

have been lookin at a few rads, have heard that the koyo ones are meant to be good and dont cost alot, also gona get a aluminium AST and also uprate the coolant hoes with some samco ones, are there any other decent hose makes for the rx??  also what other coolant parts would be good 2 look into? what else would need uprating?
