Post by: BenC on June 12, 2005, 07:58:03 PM
Whats the average price including fitting for a single turbo converstion, nothing flash on the turbo either. Also what about a front mounting intercooler?

Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben

Well that is a big question, what turbo what intercooler, they differ massively, in both performance and price, all types of brands, US, Japanese, used or brand new.

Take a look at some of the vendors links at the top of the page they will give you a good idea on purchase cost.
Fitting on the other hand just make sure you take it to a company that know the RX7 or it could end up costing you a lot more:)

Not much help I know but I did not want you to feel no one was going to reply to your post:)

If I was going to go single with FMIC then I would budget about 5K at least

thats spot on mate all I was after was an est. price. My plan is to buy an RX7 early next year but I want to buy one in need of a rebuild and I thought when its being rebuilt why not get a single turbo conversion and fmc fitted at the same time :)

Try fast and furious in Manchester, I just ordered the cwest front and sides.
http://www.fastandfurious.moonfruit.com/ for 400 quid, if they dont fit well they will take them back.

Hi Ben,

I\'m just getting my car rebuilt and single turbo + FMIC and it\'s quite hefty on the price side.  I\'ve stuck a top whack estimate on price below for converting a stock twin turbo to single looking at an output of something between 350 and 400 rwhp depending on boost.  I may have missed some stuff off, but over the years it\'s pretty much what I\'ve ended up forking out.  All prices are reasonable estimates, but they\'re pretty close and they all add up!

Don\'t want to scare you, but to do it properly is going to be expensive.

Fuel computer: c£500
Fuel pump: £300
1300 injectors: £350
Fuel pressure regulator: £50
Spark plugs £40
Uprated spark leads £40
Turbo kit: £2,500 (downpipe, manifold, waistegate etc..)
FMIC £1,000
Rebuild £2,500
Porting £500
Clutch £400
S/S Clutch line £100 (may as well do brakes as well, need to stop)
Sub Total £8,280
Sub Total (without rebuild) £5,280

Other possibles include the following:
Mid-pipe £100-£300 (silenced, cat or otherwise)
Back box £200-£500
Water Injection £350
Uprated radiator £300
Sub total: £1450

Add on to that VAT and estimate around 3 days labour for the additional work, for the full works including rebuild you\'re talking £12,935 or there abouts.  Safe to say without rebuild or the extras you could get it for around £7,500.

You\'ll probably want to sort the handling out too...
