I have been working on a gauge holder, I wanted a quad unit so here is the result.
It takes 52mm gauges and I went for some tinted gauges formthe US
1)I started with chicken wire from B+Q and got the genral shape I wanted, I had to remove the center vents to fit the holder
2) Then I used cling film over the top of the wire.
3) Then fibre glass (horrible stuff) itchy arms for a week.
4) Bogged over to get smooth, took some time and patients
5) Painted the unit gloss black, oh once I had started I took the rest of the plastic trim out and painted that gloss black whilst I was at it.
Here are the pics of the finished result, in the pic you can see a screw to the left hand side of the gauge holder this is for the commander holder I have yet to fit.
I also relocated my cruise controls, I have no pop up lights so I removed the pop up light switch on the right of the bezel and replaced it with the cruise control
ANy comments welcome bad or good I am not bothered I just wanted something a little dif to everyone else.
I now need to back to black around the gauge holder as it got a little dusty with the bog and fibreglass
Cheers
Its hard to really tell whats going on there from the pictures, can you re arrange them? just looks like one big picture with 4 frames.
Fussy bugger I know LOL
But it does look good, I like it. just need to see it more clearly.
I am teriible with pics, I will put a large one up :)
that looks like a bloody good job you\'ve done there!! Fair play matey - and a damned sight tidier than a lot of dash installs I\'ve seen. Nice one!
Liking that mate. Very neat and tidy. i like the way you\'ve followed the lines of the dash. :)
very nice ... well good job it looks like ..
question is ... can you make me one :D lol
Thats a better pic!
yeah does look bloody good mate! did you make a mould so you can easily make more?
gives a better idea
Here it is
And I have made a mould, but it was just for me incase I had a mishap as I did not fancy styling another from scratch.
It took some serious modding of the air vent to get the 4 gauges to fit, basicly took a saw to the dash to get the four gauges to fit:)
SO it has to remain now or I have a very big hole which does not look very nice.
Not everyones cup of tea but I aimed for the flowing lines and tried to match the curves of the instrument panel, I am very please with the end result.
So thanks for your kind words
Cheers
That really works, I will have to find you at a car show and have a good nose around :D
what thay all said, good stuff uv done there:D
