Hi All :wave

Firstly, thanks for the admin/mods to process the forum entry within a day :cheers

Excellent forum you lot are running here, loads of information which helped me buy my first FD-R2 variant last night.... & man I am knackered because I only got back home at 1.30am and then woken up by the little one at 4.30am only to head to work when she slept... anyway, am rambling away

I had a lot of questions initially but after reading through a lot of stickies and general stuff, almost all of them have been answered... just one thing tho, I have yet to find the workshop manual for the 3rd Gen. Hopefully someone will help me out on that front soon, & then I can replace the gearbox & diff oils.

I have come from many years of honda ownership (lost count of how many of them i have owned, cracking cars must admit & still own a type r) and I\'ve always had a soft spot for the RX7. Owned a white FC for 2 months when I was studying down under but it had a busted engine so it went back to the garage I bought it from, could just afford the insurance & fuel costs then .

well, here is my FD-R2. its a 1994 model. needs some work TLC, 2-3 dents, one long scratch on the wheel arch, bumper refit and a major clean of the interior, perhaps spraying the panels. bit of a bargain considering the deal so spare dosh left to bring it back to its original glory. its been in the country for 2 years but only covered 2k miles since SVA pass last year. Almost all of the work inc SVA prep was been done at RoTechnic, and reading up here these guys seem to have a pretty good rep. There must be other reputable specialists around these parts too, will find out in due course.

Compression test results are in the range of 6.5-7.5. Still taking it easy until tomorrow after I\'ve serviced the important bits myself. Could do with proper 4W tracking as well.

Other than the backbox, it is pretty much a stock car. not sure if it is 255 or 280 bhp, but will uprate come engine rework time (hopefully not that early).

Think I\'ve bored you lot enough now, here is a piccie of my new toy. :wave

Hi

Nice looking car, I also have a white RX7 - RB Bathurst
Re: spraying the panels

Have a look at this link - I strongly recomend this way of fixing scratches and dents.

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14864

I have used rotechnics - exelent but expensive.
Try Reworks ( link at home page ) they have done some work on my car and the owner is a real gentlenman...

Good luck with a car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michaelb

Thanks for the welcome guys

appreciate the link Scott, downloading all of it now :)

Micheal, a friend used chipsaway once and he was really happy with the results as well. since my cousin owns a bodyshop so when I get up north i\'ll let his guys loose on the car and sort all these little niggles. btw, your white looks really good... the front lips, the wheels and spoiler set it off very well.

Clive, I will definitely make time for the next official meet. will check for any Reading or nearby meets as well if they are held on regular basis.

quick question: looking at the auction sticker, it says the model is Type-R2 Special Edition, does anyone know what Special Edition is suppose to have or not

Welcome to the MRC mate.  If you\'re in Reading, try Carl Hayward (link at the top of the page) who\'s real close.  He won\'t do you wrong and like Geoff (ReWorx) is also a gent.

Right Carl, that\'s £20 you owe me!   :rollin  ;)
