Title: Rebuilding

How many of you undertake this job yourself, im quite good with cars but know nothing about rotary engines.

Is it a hard job ?

Hi mate, removal of engine and refitting is relatively easy. I decided to get WGT to actually rebuild the engine for me, as the cost wasnt much different and at least i got a 12 month warranty if they did it...

There are a few guys that have done rebuilds here though with good success...

Cheers

You can get a video from some what site (Sorry, can\'t remember where!) that goes through the rebuilding process of a twin rotor rotary.

He also put a single turbo kit on himself at the same time! Impressive stuff. Probably the perfect time to do it, as it\'s all out at that point anyway!

sorry missed this thread :)

Yeah i did it myself....well worth it for the experience.  I\'d get the video first and see what you think.  I thought the hardest part was getting the engine out and back in....  the actual rebuild of the block was easy (ish)

Mine is run in now and i have just had it tuned at WGT by pip....  He was impressed with the results.  Said the rebuild was spot on.  So i was chuffed.  It\'s going up for sale soone though (next few days)  got to pay for a house now :(  nevermind.

Cheers

Adam

Anything i can help with just PM me  :)

Like Donato, i took my engine out myself and took it to WGT to save about £500.00 on the total cost.  The labour for WGT to rebuild it worked out at about £1000.00, but, the warranty makes up for this i think.

There were a couple of times when i wished i\'d paid the extra £500.00 for WGT to do the whole lot, when you have a garage floor covered in bits you\'d taken off the engine and couldn\'t remember where they went.  Oh, and the bit when you fire her up and there\'s optimax being sprayed all over the engine bay as a fuel line has split  Oh, and the rat\'s nest   Oh, yes, the solenoids breaking (phoning Pip up to say you\'d broken yet  another and him laughing down the phone:rollin ).

On the other hand though, the satisfaction of going through the Mountain at Cadwell park last friday made up for it ;)

Cheers
Jon

what like this

with bits like these

and the boots full and the backseats and the bits for the polishers
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/deanflowers/rx005.jpg)

then you go crazy and start polishing odd bits like the oil lines and gearbox;)
