Title: Rotorstock Emergency
Post by: Icesurf3r on May 27, 2005, 05:52:35 PM
Guys in need of some help.

After picking my RX up from the body shop today(been there since monday) everytime i turn the ignition off, the car will not start, however, connect the battery up to a jump start and she fires up first time no problems, and runs fine.

Now i\'m supposed to be setting off early tomorrow morning, so any ideas what i can do to solve the problem. I\'m gonna try putting it on a charger overnight to see if that will help. If not could i swap the RX battery for the one in my MX6??? It seems the only trouble i have with the other battery is the physical size of it.

SO all help and suggestions appreciated....

Scott

One thing to check is the battery connections buddy, sometimes my car will make a small noise but no fire, check connections alittle fiddle and hey presto.

Other thing is obviously to get a new battery.

Hope that helps Scott ;)

Cheers Gurj

Have checked connections, everything seems fine! No-one has a battery that will fit. So gonna try see if i can get my MX6 battery to fit somehow!

Would you believe it cant get my hands on a battery charger either, so i\'m gonna be the plonker, jumping my car (nice opportunity for one of Si\'s smilies there) everytime i have to turn the ignition off.

Am hoping that a 3 hour run may just charge it enough to sort the problem.

What did you have done at the body shop - anything to do with your front bumper?

A dodgy earth connection usually found at the front of the engine bay could drain the battery.

Do you have a power hungry alarm / ICE that may have drained the battery whilst it was immobile in the bodyshop and now there isn\'t much juice left?  A long run may be enough to fix this.

Not sure how long is a long run to be honest.  What I do know is that I keep mine on a trickle charger because sometimes I don\'t get to drive it for weeks :(  and the active tracker drains the battery.

Sounds like battery mate, just to be sure as a precaution check voltage of battery with a volt meter when car is running.Just to be sure alternator is charging, should be around 14 volts when running.

Yup, I work in a Body shop and you would be amaized how many cars just loose there charge for no reason, Might be the heat of the booth or somthing??

Trip to halfords buy a cheap trickle charger and leave it on over night should be fine.

Fd\'s take along time to recharge the battery, if you have underdriving pulleys its even worse gives the you the idea the Battery or Alt is goosed!
