i\'ve just took delivery last week of the re-amemiya rear diffuser, with full instructons but, yep you guessed it, they\'re in japanese!
i can understand the main diagrams ok, but there are a couple of detail diagrams and i can\'t work out what they refer to. there is also a template included, but as far as i can tell, no cutting is required. has anyone fitted this diffuser themselves? hope so, coz i don\'t wanna pay for fitting, and i sure as hell ain\'t got time to learn japanese!
cheers
If you have a fax machine you can fax me the instructions if you dont mind and I will have a look for you as well. I have also took a delivery of a 2nd hand diffuser but with no instruction but they dont look that diffcult to fit and I am goin to try and fit this this week.
I understand a bit of japanese so it might jus help :p
Mine should be going on this saturday, so until then can tell you fook all matey sorry :(
i thought i\'d scan the instructions in, just in case anyone needs help in the future, here we go page 1
pages 2 & 3:
pages 4 & 5:
and finally page 6:
as i said in my original post, the main diagram is clear enough (removing the bumper, i assume to get rid of the grey plastic bit underneath), but what is the other diagram on page 4? also confused as to what the template is for. they show a pic of it on the last page of the instructions, but i can\'t see anything that would need cutting
jp825, what d\'ya reckon?
gsb876, are you going to fit it yourself?
cheers guys :)
Its getting fitted tomorrow, looks a bit fiddly so getting a garage to do it for me, plus cant get the car up high enough at home :(
Gurj:)
Picture 4 show the back where the diffuser is attached to the body (where the number plate is) with that hinge, other are quite clear. Not sure what diag 5 is about.
Can you tell me except the actual diffuser what comes with it as well, is there just 3 metal bar hinge things.
Thats about it, should have had 2 add on bits that go on the side but none came with it !!!!!!
Check the sides of this one:
Also if you are fitting yourself might be idea to get a heatshield under the exhaust pipe as might get too hot ??
i got two add-on bits with it, but they\'re not the ones shown on the green g-reddy car. i\'ve attached a pic of what i got, i think the g-reddy one maybe a later spec diffuser
found a pic with my spec diffuser. check out initial-d\'s car in this thread,

that\'s the diffuser i\'ve got. you can see how the end bits fit on, they look pretty different to the g-reddy. also, the middle bit doesn\'t have the vanes (?) like the greddy one.
gurj, good call on the heat-shield mate!! :cheers
The diffuser on g-reddy car is the same as yours but just with add on votec generator on both side, they are cost option wich are really expensive as well.
I dont have the bolts and metal bits that attach to the diffuser, can anybody help? :(
Only knew about the heatshield as the chap fitting it said "bit close to the exhaust ain\'t it" ? So i says "and" ?
He said " well after a long journey it\'ll burn nicely" !!!! :rollin :rollin :rollin
Hence the heat shield will be inplace under the exhaust ;)
Ive had mine on for about a year with no heat shield with no problems.
Scott
Mine will sit very close to the exhaust so will require the heat-shield as rather be safe than sorry, however if it hangs quite a decent space from the exhaust then yes it will be ok.
Mine didn\'t come with the 3 extra metal bits but was attached using the two side supports and the front diffuser support where the metal bits would go (used a nylock bolts and self tapping screws to attach to the underside of the rear fenders) You\'d probably also want to add some beading around the supports where they attach to the rear fenders to make it look a bit neater. Its solid and wouldn\'t budge a mm!!
The diffuser touched the bottom of my exhaust and didn\'t get damaged whatsoever from heat - it reverberated at high RPM which made it sound like a spitfire which was an added bonus!!
Not sure if you fitted it yet matey, but mine has been done this morning and took 3 hrs labour to do it, had to sand the side down to get it to fit properly and then make additional bracket mounts to get it in to plac properly.
Heres some pics, apologies for quality as car is backed onto drive :(
2.
brackets:
I think you suppose to take that black plastic bit off on the rear bumper.

Looked too bare with it off so left it on :)
What is this bit? is it your side support brackets?
(DONT ANSWER THAT, ITS YOUR VEILSIDE SPATS)
Scott
Scoomer,
Thats an extreme close up of the veilside rear spats which have stayed on also :)
Better pic taken today after much polishing :(
Hello chaps. I was just wondering, what\'s the upwards facing surface like on your diffusers? I\'ve just bought a replica one and the top side looks like the inside of a pedal\'o. The underside looks awesome, perhaps I\'m being too fussy!
It all depends on how much glass fiber and resin they used, personnally I prefer a little more resin as it smoothes over all the glass fibers.
Yeah, the fibers are quite visible on mine. Do you recon I could put some more resin on there? Sorry if that\'s a stupid question, have very little experience with GRP :D
Best to sand down the fibers until you have a smooth even surface - then primer and paint the whole thing inc side brackets.
Once it\'s on you don\'t really notice the fibers as the car shadows most of it.
My diffuser is a R-A original hence the underside is quite smooth, i think if you go for the copies you will get an inferior product ?
As a rule i only get the proper stuff, ok it will cost more but you get a very decent product :)
Gurj
I agree in general with you but sometimes the originals aren\'t brilliant and do leave room for improvement! Depends on the quality of thr originator I guess.
Yea good point,
Sometimes even the originals can be alittle dodgy, but generally are ok, and as you say where it came from is important.
Mine was from Ben Linney over at THESKYLINECENTRE so from a good source :)
Saw your car at RS but didn\'t see you about - one day I\'ll say hi!
Cheers Ben, will give that a try. It\'s not too far off now after a little bit of fettling, although it remains to be seen how well it fits! I can never resist a cheap replica, even if it means putting in some extra work to get it right. Probably not the best attitude to take when dealing with a thoroughbred like the 7!! :D :D
