Title: T2 Water temp gauge?
Post by: Grizzly on May 15, 2005, 09:33:34 PM
Hello its me again.:D

I am Having some problems with my Water temp gauge, Well its stopped working if you can call that a problem

I am not sure if my wiring or the sender has packed up, Is it the same Theory to test a temp wiring as to test a rad fan temp wiring? (basicly bridge the plug with the ignition on and see if the fan kicks in or in my case the gauge moves?)

Cheers

Chris

it depends which way it works if the temp sender increase resistance with temp shorting the wire out will do bugger all as a low resistance = a low temp but if its the other way round it will show a reading.

I think its unlikely the solid state sensor has failed and its more likely to be a wire or connection inbetween or the gauge itself.

Cars havn\'t you got to love them :D.

I have tried another sensor in so that would say it was a wiring problem but being the single worse Auto electrician its a bit of a daunting prospect.

Is there any ways of checking i\'ve not swaped a bad sensor with a bad one?

BTW Mike, Thanks for the help, I was rather Puzzled today with the clutch and the lack of water temp.
