Well I figure.. if it goes on the ship on the 23rd +5weeks in transit, allow them a week or 2 to prep the car for me...

I guess it will be about mid July when I finally get my hands on it.

Mine was shipped from Yokohama by Newera on 30th April. Due to arrive in Southampton around 4th June, then a couple of weeks for the SVA etc. So 6-7 weeks is about right.

Thanks for the advice.. I think I\'m okld enough and wise enough now (after killing my first CRX after 6 months, then a few years later following it up with a Celica GT4 death after 10 days.. ) to be pretty damn cautious!! ;)

congrats buddy..i can feel the excitement from here!..i was REAALLLLLYYY excited when my agent sent me pics of mine..it sounds around the same as yours..slightly less miles and minus the exhaust.

you will need to be careful when in the wet as the jap tyres are lethal in the wet..ive nearly competley lost mine a couple of times in the damp even if your not giving it some..its the way the primary kicks in..it does take you by surprise..BE EXTRA CAREFULL MATE!!

id reccommend getting the tyres changed to uk spec tyres just to be on the safe side..take it easy on the motorway £70mph will do ..and when home give it an oil change and basically a full service.. you can`t care enough for these cars!!

check out what happened to my tyre on sunday..

Cheers for the advice mate. The guys I am buying the car through are prepping it for me so they should sort the service and oil change out.

I keep reading mention of Eagle F1\'s on here as being a trye to have. In the past I have always used Bridgestone Potenza RE720\'s and found them to be very good in both wet and dry.. can anyone expand??

You were pretty lucky by the sounds of it Robbie to do so little damage! I bet your sphincter was twitchiing a bit when that happened huh!! :rollin

:( unlucky mate. Whats your importer said?
Title: Finally!! I\'ve got one!!

Well, I just spoke to him on the phone again and he said he\'s trying to find out right now what the score is and will call me back in a couple of hours.

The car was supposed to be leaving on the 11th August so it would be well on it\'s way now, if it\'s on the ship.

I guess this is the down side of using 3rd parties to import for you, lack of personal control and knowledge of what\'s going on.

I think (according to them) that it\'s kind of out of thier hands right now (the old \'circumstances beyond our control\' line!) and it\'s down to thier agents in Japan to get it on a ship.

It\'s just ultra frustrating as I was told it would probably take about 8 weeks from time of purchase for it to arrive.

Patience is a virtue so they say.

(still waiting for a return call)

well if they aint even loaded it onto a ship then they have gotta be takin the ****. The only time it is out of their hands is when its being loaded on to the ship and when it arrives for the mot, customs.. What agent did you use Bonsaicars???

Hey Rob,

I feel for you mate! The wait must be killing. From rumours I heard it can be difficult getting a on ship. Loads of cars waiting to get on board. However, it\'s still taking pretty long. Mine got loaded on the 9th of August and should be in the UK within the next few weeks. It also depends on your agent\'s contacts I guess.
I wouldn\'t panic too much yet.

If they have problems getting a vessel then there is something wrong. In which case, drop me an e mail and I should be able to allocate a space on the vessel for you.

Is this car fully paid for?

Good luck. :)

Thanks for the offer. I am still await a return call. I will update you when I get it!

On a completely different note,

 Sweet cup holders ;)

I would be putting a bug up their arse if I were you mate, if you start using the magic phrase \'refund\' things wil start to move....

Lol.. yeah.. the cup holders are what sold me on the car!! Hehe!

Well, I never got a call back from the yesterday so I guess I will be calling them again on Monday morning.

I am feeling seriously fobbed off right now. If it didn\'t look like such a nice example I think I would of pulled out of the deal a long time ago.

This story just gets better and better.
I just called them up again to find out WTF is going on and I was told the following...

"We have found out why we\'ve had difficulty locating your car... it somehow went on the wrong ship and is now sat in New Zealand.
We have however just landed a black \'93 up in Manchester, not sure on the mileage and stuff yet though. We should be able to get some pictures down to you before the end of the day."

What do you make of that??

Post by: davegttph1 on September 05, 2005, 12:19:47 PM
WTF... Id take a look at this motor theyre offering and if your unhappy in ANY way. demand the price dropped significantly (get yourself a bargain as your in the driving seat now) or ask for a refund plus compensation of the money owed must be due some interest for the amount of time theyve had it ;) lol

Does sound like theyve forgot about you completely though and could possibly sold your car already to somebody else who saw it when it arrived and offered alot more money than you did.... Wouldnt suprise me in the slightest

Post by: Freddy on September 05, 2005, 12:21:36 PM
Take the car aqs a temporary measure, tell them to get your car back and only then pay then the remainder amount. You need some sort of guarantee that you will get your car back.

Alternatively, get your money back off them for the full car.

Aah man, this sucks for you Rob!
Seeing as they have offered the refund I would definately go for it along with some sort of extra compensation to cover the lost interest and to stop you from telling everyone on the forum they are a pile of s**t, (we\'ll pretend you never said a word!)

There does seem to be a fair few nice examples already on our fair isle, and that way you get to see it before you buy so you know for sure if its a good\'un.

Get the money back and get as far away from that company as possible mate!

I guess I aught to finish this saga off.
A day or so after I made the last post about the car in Manchester I found another FD locally for sale with a fresh rebuild.
I called Group20 (the company I had been dealing with) and requested a full refund which they said would be returned to me within a few days. After a couple of weeks had passed with no sign of the money Patrick (director of Group20) called me to inform me that the company had gone bust. As you can imagine my heart sank.
He did tell me though that to keep from tarnishing their personal names they would be arranging a personal loan in order to refund me, but I would have to wait another 3 weeks..... I wasn\'t too hopefull of ever seeing the money again by this point.
Anyhoo.. this had screwed me right up with purchasing the local car I\'d found and even after scraping together every penny I could find I could just about cover the cost of the car and nothing else (ins/tax/etc..) which forced me to get an unwanted bank loan.
To cut a long and very unhopeful 3 weeks short I got a surprise call last Tuesday from Patrick asking for confirmation of my bank details... and would you believe it a full refund has now gone into my account!!! This added to the money from the sale of my old MX3 has now repaid the bank loan!!
I will say after all of the doubting and disbelief of what I was told by the 2 guys from Group20 it would appear that the business was struggling and they were genuinely try to work things out for me, and I was very impressed that they kept their word and refunded me in full.

I am happy to say (for once!!) it\'s all turned out ok! :)

Thanks to all of you that offered me support in this ordeal!

Rob.

Sorry to drag this old thread up again but I thought it might serve as a warning to some...

It appears that Mr Cox & MR White are trading again under a new name \'Japow\'...
The old website is up and running and appears to be identical to the old \'Group20\' website except throughout the word Group20 has been replaced with Japow.... http://www.import-japanese-cars.com/index.asp

You\'ve been warned!
