Title: Boost control and Boost Values
Post by: eatmyrx7dust on May 12, 2005, 09:26:19 PM
I recently fitted a profec b II boost controller.
To monitor the boost pressure the instructions recommended that a t piece is fitted into the vacuum line which feeds to the fuel regulator.

When setting up boost levels I noticed that the boost peak on the profec was considerably higher than the reading on my apexi commander. The discrepancy appears to be about .15 different.

Does anybody know where the apexi/stock boost readings are obtained...and would I be better getting reference boost from elsewhere.

Also is the reading on the apexi which is mm/hg the same as the kpa value on the profec.

Question may be a bit technical but i\'m sure somebody out there must be an expert on this !!!!

Does the progec B give you a boost reading then?

i think the apexi reads newton meters and the profec reads bar.

The apexi will take its reading from the mazda map sensor which is connected to the throttle body.

So does the fuel pressure regulator also take boost pressure from same place. My boost gauge took pressure from plenum and that matched apexi readings.
Profec reading is definately kPa. How do you convert from kPA to kg/cm2 or are they the same ..............!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found the conversion in profec manual.

100kPa=1.01972kg/cm2=14.5psi

which means apexi should read higher !!! but reads lower !!!

I think I am going to move reference boost line from fuel pressure reg. to plenum.
