Quick question,
what benefits are to be had from fitting a stock mount ARC intercooler, other than it being shiny??.
Will it really give any sort of gains over the standard intercooler, which I know is not great.
The mods my car will have: Stock twins, Apexi PFC, Induction Kit, Mid pipe, Blitz back box.
Will the ARC unit give any greater results, not necessarily bhp, but lower inlet temps and thus a little bit safer?????
If its like my trust one it will be bigger than standard & on the 10 mile run to town at approx 60mph it doesnt usually go over 28 degrees, stuck in traffice I\'ve seen it at 50, not sure what a standard one would read
Are there any other mods that need doing if you fit one of these bigger intercoolers?
I like the layout of the car and wouldnt want a FMIC on mine as I dont think it looks right with the standard bumper.
One of these intercoolers that replaces the stock is very appealing. (not to the missus who wants to go on holiday lol)
I have similar mods to you Steve Burnett apart from the decat pipe and my power fc isnt mapped yet.
Whifbitz have these on their site for 680 plus VAT. Is this the cheapest one?
Steve did mapping the car make a big difference to performance?

Good question, will this affect fueling at all???
Not had mine fitted yet, cars going to WGT on Saturday.
Gerry M - They are some low temp figures.
I have similar mods to your guys and have been mapped by Pip.
On standard 60mph cruise I get 35-40 deg temps.
On full welly I\'ve had it upto 72 deg which I guess isn\'t good.
Have standard IC so an upgraded one is my nexy mod. Think WGT do one for about 600+VAT.
Rich
highest I moticed on commander was during the emmisions for mot cos it was idling for approx 15mins was up to about 75-80 on the inlets
Temps will also be affected by how good a airflow your getting to the I/C
The ARC SMIC is not that much bigger then stock, its much smaller then the TRUST SMIC. Go for the TRUST one, the ARC is a waste of money. I have measured both and went for a second hand TRUST SMIC in the end.
You\'re right, after talking to Pip thats what I\'ve decided.
Just have to get Gerry\'s home address and head up there one night :D
Better take indiana jones with you, You;ll need him to get near my car !

I\'m not too happy with my WGT one atm. I\'m off to see Pip about it on monday to see what he can do. I\'ll let you know what happens.
would anybody be interested if I managed to get copies made of my TRUST SMIC?
If I get two definite yes\'s then I will find out much it will cost
Have you got any pics of the Trust item and an approximate price?
What do people think of this FMIC?

Looking at my car, I reckon i\'d have to get rid of the A/C and possibly do something with the stock rad. Is it actually possible to fit this with the stock front bumper in place?
Cheers
Pip does a uprated SMIC i think. My FMIC gives really good temps.(TRUST) I was seeing about 25 to 35 deg on the line on sunday. I think the above one is bigger than mine.
Scott
Ok, is that Trust/Greddy IC you have, is it being used with the standard front bumper and did you have to move around any of the other components in that area like the AirCon, Battery etc.
Cheers
Yes i have a stock nose on the car with no cuts or openings.
I removed the air con, moved the battery to the boot, and shifted the rad a tad. Clive runs the same IC.
Scott
Cool, buying this IC looks like a bit of a steal so and it might actually fit! All i\'d have to do is get some hardpipes fabbed up and should be ok.
Thanks for your help mate :)
Cheers

need help let me know. if u need pipes i can tell you where

The one in the Picture is shallower than the trust one. The one on mine is 15in wide, 10in tall and 4in deep on the core. I was getting about 40degs on the line at RS2. But the big difference is the temps stay extremely stable. It doesn\'t jump up really silly when you spool up the turbo/s. Was at about 30deg by the end of the run ! My air pickup is in the wrong place at the min and is sucking at least 60deg air in before the turbo. Thats one of the next jobs !
