Title: New RX-7 for 2006!
Post by: Glenn Butcher on July 12, 2003, 05:33:58 AM
Hi all,

Found this in a mag. here, I have the mag. but no scanner at the moment.  See the bottom right pic.

Gotta say it looks pretty nice, not sure about the front of it - but it does have an FD look about it.

240kW also from a 1.5litre rotary.

I\'ll scan it as soon as I can.

 yeah I always have to explain to people that an RX-7 is not a MX-5 :p

Just from seeing that small picture of the 4th Gen RX-7 has got me saving the pennies already!

I want to see more concept art of it!

Awaiting those scans...

As long as it looks substantially different I won\'t mind too much - I hope the 4th Gen RX-7 concept doesn\'t get watered down too much!

Well as I\'ve just got my FD3 and am keeping my MX-5, which has a very similar power/weight ratio (as it\'s 208 BHP), guess I better confess that I might need the roof to protect my perm :o

Not bad, sure after a bit of drawing board time it could be spectacular. And if its similarly weighted to the FD 320 ponies should make it hall quite nicely indeed :)

Come on RX8, secure the blood line!! :) :) :) :) :)

Read recently that Mazda\'s official line is there will not be a RX7 successor, think it was in Autocar or Autoexpress, but if there isn\'t a new 7 then the next best thing would be a more serious RX8 (Turbo, harder sprung, etc - may as well make a 4th gen!):D

LOL sadgoth, knight rider i have never been compared to, but there was this once my car got mistaken for a MR2 AW11 (first gen) :reallymad

not a lot of people know what the TII is, he said to me:

guy: nice car,
me: you know what it is?
guy: sure,
me: what is it then?
guy: yea its a MR2 first gen............................
me: ..........(big pause)...........errrr no mate, its a RX7
guy: (looking stupid now ) i see...........

but hey, i get a lot of looks from people confused with what it really is, and then tell them its a rotary engine and they are like WTF???? lol:rollin :rollin :rollin

Yeah, I love the look of a 3rd gen... I\'m terribly torn, because I want a "project" car to modify, and I don\'t know if I should start on the RX8 or get an RX7 as well and keep the RX8 stock...

BUT,... I really can\'t afford a 3rd gen as well as the RX8, and I can\'t be without somthing a little practical...  so I might have to start with a TII and mess with that if I decide that the 8 isn\'t getting modified...

Although, if I start on the 8, I won\'t want to stop... so perhaps I should just wait until the warantee is run out and see if there is a new RX7 on the horizon or not before I decide..

Comments?

Don\'t think I didn\'t think about that possability before handing over the cash,  but that would leave me driving somthing really mundane every day...

I had a new RX-7 before I got the RX-8, in standard form I think the RX-8 is a better car - practical too!  RX-8 is more refined, RX-7 is quite raw - which can be a good thing of course!

Either car to do up will cost a lot if you want it done right, then - will it really be a daily driver?

My plan is to keep the RX-8 and have the racecar - I have made the decision not to touch the RX-8 (apart from general maintenance of course).

A RENESIS engine with a bit of port work, proper ECU would be a VERY good thing.  But it won\'t be turbo.

Well - that was the plan, all good intentions eh!  I do have an M800, but it is for the racecar of course :p

No, it\'s not really a daily driver... although it has been now for a couple of weeks as my other thing is dead at the moment,,, normally it lives in the garage and gets used for enjoyable things... visiting friends, relatives club meets and generally driving for fun...

I still have the triumph to finish, although there\'s still a few reasons why I can\'t get any work done on that at present... hopefully in a year or so it will be easier.
