Title: Coolant buzzer light!
Post by: rx7aberdeen on May 10, 2005, 09:56:35 AM
Am in the process of s&£@@ing myself the other day i started the car the coolant buzzer light was on and making one of the worst noises i have ever put my ears through! any way didnt need much coolant so thought that was it parked the car up and when i came back to it the buzzer came on again!  and has been doing it for the last two days!  funny thing is i cant see any weater spilling until this morning i left a puddle of coolant on the floor!  I have read a few posts about this problem and basically want to  know if anyone has ever come out of this problem smelling of roses and did not require a rebuild?  Thanks Dave.

I know how you feel dave! :(

i still havnt traced my leak!

Been like it now for a good 10 weeks , the car is still running, but i keep topping up with water.

You maybe thinking "10 weeks....why havnt you had it looked at?"

Well, i have been waiting for all my single turbo bits to get here, so i will get it looked at properly when it goes in for its rebuild and turbo fittment.

But try and get yours to a speacialist if you cant trace the leak!

happened to me twice.

First time was a hole in the rad. Second time really freaked me out because I couldn\'t see where the coolant was going.  It just seemed to be dissapearing. As it happens it was the pipe around the turbo, It only came out when the system was pressurised and becasue its so hot around there the coolant was just evaporating away.

It\'s not always terminal.

Just put on a new AST cap which will hopefully solve the problem but been thinking the water which i put into the rad cap seems to automatically run into the expansion tank but it doesnt seem to go back into the system so was wandering if there is a faulty pump or anything has anyone come across this before?

I think this can be a symptom of the spring in the AST cap not resetting, stopping the system sucking the water back out of the AST

Dave, I had a problem with my AST. The car dumped some cooland a couple of times (only when hot though) before I noticed the AST cap seal was passed its best. I replaced that and all was fine.
That a good and cheap place to start.
