Title: Possible Silly Question about Mapping
Post by: rxangus on May 03, 2005, 12:38:51 PM
Hi,

Just had an Apexi FC fitted and mapped by Pip at WGT. Does this mean that the car is now tuned to run on 98 RON which was in the tank at the time rather than the 100 RON when it arrived from Japan. If so, are 95 and 97 RON  fuels now less likely to cause detonation?

Sorry if that\'s a stupid question!

Angus

your car has now been mapped to 98 ron, thats what was in the car. It now means your car will run fine on that fuel. If you go to a low ron fuel it will generally run fine but on high boost settings it will have a greater chance to detonation. If you decide to run 100 it will have a greater protection from detonation, but the slight increase in ron would not be sufficient to make the car perform better. It just a better safety factor.
