can any body tell me the tell tale signs of a waterseal failure. Plus what are the tests required to prove either way if this is the problem. Cheers MARK.

There are some things that can tell you.
1. take off the cap for the coolent filler,the one that is not the pressure cap,(if it is an FD)or radiator cap and crank the engine when cool with the coolent topped up,if engine starts that is ok but stand back a bit then look at coolent in place where cap sits and if the coolent is being pushed out of there then engine is in need of rebuild.If not coming out with force then check for fine bubbles coming through.Also no good.
2.Check dipstick for mayonaisse(oil emulsification) and filler cap too.
3. Check coolent level when cool after longish trip,probably next day if car drives ok to see if level is low.
4.Does the car start on 1 rotor sometimes?if so that is an indicator.
5.Crank engine when cold with spark plugs out and see if coolent splashes out of engine.
A garage could do a leak down test for you to pressurise the system too.This would show if a seal has gone or the leak may be from elsewhere.

Car is a T11 convert, coolant is pushed out of the radiator but only after the engine has run long enough to warm upto normal running temp.Should this be the case and if not any recommends for a good ,reliable engine rebuilder. Thanks for any advice. MARK.
