Title: Servicing my FD - Essex area
Post by: Tim Oldland on April 28, 2005, 09:11:22 AM
Morning all,

My FD is about due for a service - oil change, filter and plugs i think.

Where is the best place to get it serviced? I\'m in Essex.

Bear in mind, by best i mean cost as well as quality... :D

Also, how much is this going to dent my wallet as a rough guess?

Cheers,

Tim

Hi tim

I am new to this too but have been told Nemesis in Colchester are good or for a pure rotary specialist then Jimmys up in Norwich.

Are you going to come to the Essex meet i am arranging in Basildon (Dick Turpin) for next Thursday (5th May)

Check out the thread under Pub meets etc

if its just an oil change filter and plugs you\'re after I\'m sure, if you ask nicely, someone on here might help for a few beers.

Hi Tim,

I could recommend GBH Motor Sport in Colchester (01206 861791). Bob\'s the main guy there, but I\'m sure anyone there could help.

I\'ve heard good things about Nemesis - but I\'ve also heard they\'re a bit pricey.

As for the cost... I\'ve no idea really, I tend to do these small jobs myself; £50 for 4 new plugs, £20 oil filter, oil £25?

If you come to this Essex meet you might meet someone that lives close to you that could help out, assuming you don\'t have the tools/workspace.

Cheers
Jon

bring the Peugeot along mate. I\'d like to see what\'s under the bonnet of a 300bhp 205... must have spent a fair bit on it?

Cheers

Nothing special really mate, apart from a 2.0 16v jammed in with a bottle in the back and 2 solnoids in the front.
Poor things been sitting by itself scince i bought the rex, maybe due to the fact that the rx has an interia and a heater, rather than just a bucket seat.

Definately worth doing it yourself Tim - not a huge job (plugs are a pain but easy enough).  Cost would be minimal too...

Tim, youve been to DS Engineering, dont know how close they are to you, but for something so non specialist, and he has a fair knowledge of rotaries, you may well be better going there if closest.

True about doing it yourself. It has to be done regularly so it saves a lot of time and money.

I have been to DS Engineering before. Never again.
