Title: 3rd gen
Post by: rxchris on April 27, 2005, 10:30:52 PM
looking at three 3rd gen rx7s all cheap end of the market, presum the worst thing that can go wrong is them needing an engine rebuild. what sort of cost is involved in this, and whats the best way to tell how good the engine is

youre best bet would probally be to get it to a specialist and get it checked over by somebody who knows what they are looking at.

A lot of peolple get compression tests done on the engine to see how strong it is however these type of test can only tell you so much about it.

£3K to £4K for the cars. trying to decide if its worth buying a cheap one then getting an engine rebuild done later , depend on costs to rebuild

Wouldnt recommend that at all.  Ok, you can get the engine rebuilt for 2.5k.  But you\'ve also got to think about all the other bits as well.  Not trying to put you off by saying FDs are badly made.  However, these are high performance cars, and they would definitely have been driven like one.  If not looked after, they tend to go very very wrong.
