Title: Dad\'s RX7
Post by: doddy on April 26, 2005, 03:03:21 PM
hey

I signed up here the day my dad said he\'d give me his \'89 RX7 Turbo II.  I found a reference to AON and got a great quote from them but he\'s keeping the car in the end...

Anyway the car has a slight electrical fault:

With the ignition off, the headlights work fine on dipped and main beam.  But with the ignition switch on they dim way down to about 6 volts worth of light.

Dad\'s been advised to check the insulation of wiring around the headlights.

Anyone any other ideas?

Sorry if this is an FAQ!  (If so do I get one by ball on my first post?)

cheers mate.

I\'ve told him that he knows rightly what the problem is - it\'s a dodgy wire somewhere: all he has to do is find it!

For the record symptoms are:

Ignition Off: Lights work fine, dip and main.

Ignition On:
Light switch Off:  Lights half glow.
Light switch On:  Only main beam - dip switch doesn\'t do anything (even though it works fine with ignition off).

We just have to work out how the ignition circuit is impacting the light cicruit...
