just topped up my oil with some 15w 40 mineral oil.
Noticed it said it was diesel engine oil.
DOH.
anyhow surely 15w 40 mineral oil is 15w 40 mineral oil or am I wrong. Will this screw my engine, should I change it before I go anywhere?

some kind of extra detergents in there that cleans out diesel engines?

quickly run the engine which heats up the oil,this will help wen u empty the tank,,then take off uresump and ure filter,,and replace both asap!!!

I realise it was a pretty ****ing stupid thing to do, powers of observation nil. However I still don;t know what the difference between the oils is and how it will affect my engine, and I\'d like to know..

well for a start diesel combustion is totally different hence the glow plugs on diesels,,the fuel on diesels burns or ignites if u like at a higher temp,plus the diesel oil is slightly thicker liquid so u might find u have probs firing ure rex up--ie poor idling--poor combustion-which leads to a mass amount of carbon and soot build up around your plugs--which will proberly eventually end up runing your rotary engine!!

yeah no big deal man I\'ll just do a change before I use it.
next couple of days will see me an opportunity.
just 1 more quick thing,,after u empty the oil out wen u nxt fill her up wid full use a product call red x its red funnly enough lol put some in ure fuel tank b4 u fill her up ie at the petrol station then u will find that any carbon deposits in the engine will hopefully be burnt out once you use this prduct..she might smokea bit tho but it might jus save ure engine mind u only use a capfull a bottle of this will last you about 20 fill ups!! i use it on a regular basis--in the long run it preserves engine life!!!!

edit to say it was only a top up, not a full load of the stuff.
yep otherwise we wud all be putting diesel oil in our rotary engines!!! the synthtics of the 2 differnt oils are well different!!!
