Title: Abs Help!!!!
Post by: mrfitz on April 23, 2005, 06:29:11 PM
Ok,

ABS light is on permanently.  Have spent the day trying to resolve this but still haven\'t.  Really don\'t want to spend another day chasing my tail tomorrow!

Have cleaned all the wheel sensors, have con checked all the wheel sensors from the ABS control unit connector, all fine.  Have slaved in a new ABS control unit, still no joy.  Have checked the 60A and 15A fuse under the bonnet and the other fuse in the drivers side fusebox. (Obviously did these first)!!
Have checked the 2 relays on top of the ABS Hyd unit, they\'re both fine.  Have found something that tells me to check from the ABS control unit connector to the alternator, but dunno whether I\'m supposed to be measuring a voltage or what!

Is the only thing left to do, changing the ABS hyd unit?

Any more ideas anyone??

Thanks,

Mark.

What sort of resistance readings are you getting across the sensors are they all similar

Yeah, they are all pretty much 1K.  The only strange thing was, the front left sensor gave an O/C when I tested it from the ABS control unit....  That\'s it I thought, I checked the sensor out on its own and it was fine.  Just to compare, I checked the same pins on my other RX and got exactly the same.  All 3 wheels except the front passenger check out fine from the ABS control unit.  So I\'ve now discounted that theory!
I also have a high hubting idle at the mo, I\'m putting that down to a vacuum leak somewhere but could the 2 be related?

Thanks Kev,

Mark.
