Title: coolant/water expansion tank
Post by: Steve Burnett on July 04, 2003, 10:55:50 PM
Hi all,
was checking my level yesterday and noticed really for the first time that
the coolant/water expansion tank gauge plastic stick type thing (the
technical name for it) was stained brown. I gave it a clean and checked that
the coolant/water tank was not actually that colour. It was not, nice and
clear but, I checked it again today and the stick is brown in places again,
obviously there is something in there but does anyone know what??? Not sure
at all myself. Everything should be nice and clean as the car had its
rebuild 2.5K miles ago. Is it just crap lying about in it?
Any help good.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve ,

Hmmmmm  was the rebuild as a result of a water seal failure ? if so perhaps  someone put a bars leak type water stop leak in it .

Wouldn\'t worry too much if the cars not getting hot or dumping water etc with the heat we have had over the last few weeks .

All the best Clive

yeah it was water seal failure. RX Motors carried it out I should get in contact with them. Cheers for the help.

Steve,
having a few problems with water being dumped before engine has warmed up fully following engine swap. Would appreciate symtums of water seal failure and did it need a full rebuild.Cheers Mark.

Hi Mark,
the car actually recieved the rebuild before I bought it. I was lucky as if I had bought it when I had originally planned I would have been the one to stump up the cost.
The seller did say that the car just had problems starting then one day nothing. Took it to RX Motors who informed him it was a rebuild that was required due to water seal failure due to the water pump packing in.
