Title: A-Plan
Post by: LeeHall on April 10, 2005, 01:17:44 AM
Just thought you might be interested in knowing about these guys. I got a quote for switching insurance from my modestly modified 200SX to the RX7 I should be in possesion of in the next week or so.
The premium for my 200 was £410 with all mods declaired and the change of vehicle will be £212 including £25 admin charges with a full body kit declaired. Now I realy don\'t think thats bad at all!!!!!! Also, they know what they are talking about with cars too i.e. models, modifications etc.

Oh, I\'m 29, 1 years NCD, car parked on drive and I work in licensed premisis (a little loading for that one).

Over all, I can highly recomend them. If your re-newel is up soon they are worth a call on 01635 874646 and speak to Rob or Darren. And please let them know who recomended them too(Hope I\'m alowed to give no. details? Mods, feel free to remove any part of this post!!!):D

I would agree, they just offered me £900 fully comp, i\'m 25 with 2 years no claims. Full bodywork spoiler and alloys declared.

But i\'ve only been driving a couple of years, and this will be my first uber-powerful car.

He really seemed to know what he was talking about, and even came back to me saying that i could get more miles/year for the same cost!!!

I think i\'ll be going with them if i can\'t find a better offer!

ok, I concur with this post - APlan it is for me too.

I know each individual can get different quotes from different companies because the quotes are all based on so many different factors, but A-Plan have saved me £300 on the next cheapest (Adrian Flux), plus I can do 2000 miles a year extra.

I have no issue\'s telling you all this (unlike one poster who refused to say where he got his insurance from  ) cos the quote is valid for 30 days anyway. So even if you did all go and get insurance from them, I\'d still get my quote.

And my details, a grand age of 32, 6 points, 7000 miles a year, garaged, quoted on a slightly modifed car (dumps, ecu, exhaust, induction, lowered) and the total = £699.

I think its the 6 points that kills me. Plus, most insurers seem to see an engine modification, hold their hands up in the air, and add half as much again onto your premium, without even bothering to see if its performance increasing.

Happy bunny :) Now just gotta find another car to buy. Anyone wanna sell? :rollin

Very strange this.

I\'ve been with A-Plan for ages and have currently two mototrs with them. however as soon as I talked RX, two years ago, they said they don\'t do imports.

I know they are national, so what areas are doing RX\'s ?

Well, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire definitely is.

Maybe they\'ve changed their policies. However, I hear different things. Some say that admiral will do engine mods, they told me they wouldn\'t.

Probably just depends who you speak to - what underwriter they speak to (if they have to speak to one).

Just seems like there is no consistency.

I have a feeling it depends on which office you talk to (it seemed to be the case with 200SXs), where ever the main office is doesn\'t seem to like imports or modifications, but the office number in my first post appear to specialise in the more \'unusual\'.
Just an idea. They covered me no probs in Cornwall.

Been with A-Plan since I got my rex nearly 2 years ago so maybe you talked to the cleaner or something!  They\'ve consistantly been cheapest for me even with a hefty London weighting!

Just finally taken out my insurance with A-Plan. They said something about having given me a discounted quote anyway, but they were seriously cheap.

I even managed to get the mileage up\'d to 10k a year, told them it had been lowered which they didn\'t have logged (thought I\'d told them - must have forgotten) and it didn\'t alter the price of the quote.

When I originally asked for the quote, I was adding engine modifications on, and nothing seemed to alter the price of the quote. Almost made me doubt it and wonder if something is wrong, but a second phone call confirmed they had all the details and now I\'ve got the cover note.

Fully recommend them.

Just renewed mine and £200 cheaper than last year also insured our new Cherokee with them and they\'ve discounted the premium by the value of my no claims that\'s on the rex.  Which was nice.

Next year I\'ll move the rex over to a classic policy so even cheaper :)

I had the same idea this morning. My Mazda 6 2.3 Sport was up for renewal with Elephant. They quoted me £600, £150 more than last year.

I got a quote comparison on confused.com (excellent site) and the cheapest they could come up with was £416, yet A-Plan beat them all at £399.

When I phoned up Elephant they asked why I was cancelling and I told them I had a cheaper quote, and they said, well maybe we can beat it. Kinda got annoyed at this point and said well if you could have beaten it, why didn\'t you try in the first place. I don\'t want to be with a company that sends me a high renewal just in the hope I won\'t look around, and thinking well we can just lower it if he does. A-holes!

Although haven\'t had any need to use customer service or anything with A-Plan, I think they\'re a small broker, you get through on the phone almost immediately, which you never do with the big companies apart from their sales lines. So far, I really rate them.

Aplan have a number  just for imported cars. I lost my documents last week so rang them up, told them it was an import and they gave me a number  to ring for imported cars.

I don\'t know if I was through to a specific import section but first guy I spoke to (Simon) was very helpful and seemed to know what I was on about - even knew the usual chat about what engine I was talking about ie: 2354 or 2616cc.

Second guy I spoke to, Lee, (same number as above as Simon was on day off) was exactly the same - nothing was said about my age/location or even that it was an import....
