Title: UK Gen 3\'s
Post by: streetdragster on July 01, 2003, 05:04:25 PM
Hi All,

I\'m looking at a UK Rx-7 as a possible replacement for my GTi-R as a lad has shown some interest in buying the car.
The Rx7 i\'m looking at is a 1993 genuine UK car. I know all the imports have types like touring, type r, type rz etc i was wondering whether the same applied to UK cars.
Also, does anyone know the spec of this year of UK car? I know it has air con and black leather.
What should i expect to pay on one like this which has had a engine rebuild approx 14k ago at WGT

Thanks

Matt

i think all the uk cars have 237bhp and imports depending on year have either 255, 265, or 280.

im sure somebody will tell you more, but in my opinion, imports are better :)

why are they lighter??
with me being 22 the UK is a better option insurance wise.
Also this particular model is apparently mint and near standard (only a SS exhaust fitted)

Thanks for all info

Matt

when i got quoted for insurance they told me it made no difference if it was an import or not

also imports are faster, about 165mph instead of 155, and 0-60 in 5.1/5.2, instead of 5.4

The UK spec came fully loaded very similar to the jap type x, air-con, Sunroof, leather, cruise control, 10 speaker stereo etc weighs 1310 Kilos,
the Jap Type R not so many toys still has the air con but no sun roof, cruise control and stuff weighs in at 1265kg

All I will say is that the UK model does not top out at 155mph. :D

Other than that, its all already covered. Insurance wont be different between UK and/or import, because Mazda only managed to sell 237 odd of them here in the UK.

unlike the jap cars which cut out at 112mph lol
I made sure when I test drove the one I bought that the limiter had be taken off by proceeding to spank the car up the road at 130mph, and the seller giggling like a girl (private road of course):p

Clive, I can see that with those magic glasses you wear, you would be able to read it. I am but a humble office worker who\'s gonna have to teach you about zooming in when scanning documents. :)

Hi All

Its my car Matt\'s asking about and i found it being a UK car i saved the best part of £400!!! with TESCO for insurance who won\'t touch imports.

I know that the club has a deal going but i bought the car before i joined.

What price would it be for a 29 year old with full NCB and no points with a M25 postcode?

strange for them to say that, maybe because I\'ve been a customer of theirs for the last 2 years and I declared the exhaust as well.
1200 thats a good quote though for the uk car

Tesco are a rip-off. They want nearly 2 grand to insure my car. Most of that is because of the wheels and exhaust. I\'ll be moving after my policy runs out next month.

Sounds cool.  On the net my quote was 1300 but that was using a UK car.  I phoned them up, everything was the same except I told them it was an import and they wanted over a grand more.

Madness - almost enough to make me want a UK one.  OK maybe not then :D
