Title: Storing an FD
Post by: wedgiekray on April 04, 2005, 12:33:54 PM
Hi Folks,

Look like I\'ll shortly be (sadly) leaving the car behind whilst I\'m away until Christmas.

Has anyone any tips on storing an FD?

I was going to ..

1. Give it basic service
2. Fill the Fuel Tank
3. Clean and Wax
4. Leave it on jack stands (and no  handbrake)
5. Remove the battery
6. Cover

Anything I\'m missing? Anything I need to know when I come back to start it up?

Cheers for the advice!

Bugger! Posted it in the wrong section. Feel free to move it to Tech/General.

Cheers!

Try the lightening in a world of thunder! They have a full description on how to prepare an FD for storage.

Excellent, I had actually checked, but the search box doesn\'t seem to find any hits, now found it at the very bottom of miscellaneous. Thanks for the hint.

Looks like I\'ve got the general idea about storing, and some tips on re-starting it now too.

Here\'s the link to complete this thread for anyone else looking http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/storing.html (http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/storing.html)

Cheers!

Might be worth running some decent 2 stroke oil premised with fuel through the engine. It\'ll leave a protective film on the engine internals and will help prevent damage from condensation.

keeps condensation out and prevents rust. It certainly shouldn\'t degrade to such an extent that it would cause any problems - at least not in a matter of months.

Cheers guys, should I bleed off the fuel when I return before using it, seeing that it\'ll be sitting for 8months?
