Post by: gavin on March 31, 2005, 09:02:34 PM
well
finally got my car back together tonight and fitted the ecu, car been sitting stripped for 4 months turned the key and she fired up as normal, did the learning stuff now idles spot on, took it out for a spin and when boost come in i was getting a whooshing noise from around the turbos, will strip induction kit and hard pipes off for a look see if any hoses are loose tomorrow, any other suggestions as to what it may be? a little disapointed but least she goes, could things have jammed up since it has been sitting? also had commander set up so i can monitor 8 things and as i was driving the knock (I) was rising when accelerating is that ok? need to get it setup but would like to get it running how it used to first, also the heat light is on all the time, cat has been removed

any help
thanks

it\'s funny that, I get a similar thing. I mean, I expect to hear the turbos spooling and dumping to a point but mine seems to be really making a noise as they spool. I kinda figured that I must of blown a vac hose off but I checked on my commander and I still get good boost pressure and a good pattern, so I\'m not sure wtf it is.

Having thought for a second actually, does anyone know what the boost figures on a ccommander should be when you\'re not on any boost at all? mine seems to sit at about -600

check the rubber coupling that joins the y pipe (that joins the output of the 2 turbos) to the crossover pipe (that goes to the intercooler). It can perish and you won\'t see anything unless you take it off. Mine had a huge gash in it.

funny that after taking the car to bits then putting it back together i noticed alot of movment on the pipe comming from there and the jubilee clip was slack, someone in japan must have had a go at it as i have never touched it, also my radiator wasnt in the mounts properly and there was a bolt missing that holds the fans to the rad :(  looks like its been in bits before, what about the heat light? and the knock is that normal?

What Knock figures are you getting mate?

Did you insulate the sensor when you removed the cat?

If you need a hand pop down to Edinburgh and i can have a look if you like....

Cheers

got your number mate
was looking at it last night water temps were good, temp gauge never worked since i bought the car so was always worrying, around 80 driving around town, intakes were 20-30 around town as well is that good for a front mount?
seem to have got all the air out before i started the car as well was worried about chasing air locks, took 5 litres out and got almost 6 back in rad is 30% bigger though.
