Quite often when I start my car the add coolant light comes on and a buzzing alarm starts, once the car has warmed up the light and buzzer turn off, I have filled the car with water but it still happens!!!!! Anybody got any ideas whats wrong???
Hopefully
Air in the systems causing problems
Faulty Sensor
Coolant Leak
Or worst case something else
cheers for the reply
its not a leak because the tank is full, maybe airlock, any ideas how to check or what to do???
This is my first rx7 & im not too sure about anything to do with them!!!
If you keep topping it up and the coolant level keeps dropping then you\'re losing it somewhere! Could be a split hose or tank/rad leak but thet\'d be pretty easy to spot. Could be a waterseal problem in which case it\'s leaking internally and you\'ll need to get it looked at by someone who knows rotaries for proper diagnosis.
also - only fill up the cap in the centre (not the cap to the right which is the AST or the plastic tank to the left which is the overflow tank).
Oh crap!!!!!
I have topped up the tank on the left as you look at the car with water, any ideas what to do???
probably top the one in the centre up !

you\'re not the first mate don\'t worry. I\'m sure a few people on here could hold there hands up to filling that when they first got a rex. Me included
That is just the overflow bottle and you won\'t have done any harm by filling up in there. You need to fill from the yellow cap right in the centre of the engine. You may find that you need to reach under the filler neck to the rubber hose and give it a squeeze just to "burp" the system so you can keep filling it up.
If it you fill it up and it keeps dissapearing and the alert keeps coming on, you really need to get it to a specialist to have a look at, as it could be something more serious. I had a scare mysellf not long ago but it turned out to be a wee hole in my rad.
hi mate look had the same problem a week or two back(look on the forum) tried topping up with coolant (Fine), checked for leaks (fine), no air in system . Got very p****d off with it then one day last week i waited until the buzzer went off(5 mins) and the rex was warm, took her down the road a few miles and the engine blew. will know more on the 4th as its booked into WGT £££££££:( but don\'t do what i did and think it will be ok , i learnt the hard way!!!
cheers paul
found the problem, this is my first rx7 so not too sure what things are called, a hose had come off where the hot water/coolant comes round near the cap it says not to remove on the right of the engine, so water was leaking out and not making its way back through the overflow into the engine!!!!
Cheers for help
