Title: Buddy Club seats..
Post by: Jin Kazama on March 29, 2005, 07:46:18 PM
Hi all
I have some Buddy Club bucket seats on order to replace my stock seats. I know these fit ok normally, but I have a half roll cage and am worried this will cause  problems ie. I will be pushed up against the dash (I\'m 5\'9)?..I don\'t  want to have to remove  the cage. Any help much appreciated. :)

Hi mate,

i have some buddyclubs in mine....i have had them for a couple of months now with no probs at all, plus i have a border halve cage.
i\'m 6 foot bang on, and i must say....thats the tallest you really need to be to use these seats without having your knees up against the wheel.

heres a pic.

You\'ll be fine!

Only found out they came in different sizes after i bought them  ....but actually i think they are the slimmer ones....i know its a dam tight fit :rollin .
I\'m only 11 and halve stone, so its just about the tightest it needs to be, but using them a bit they have bedded in nicely.

Happ to help man!

I got mine for £520 for the pair delivered from //www.rotaryextreme.com

but buddyclub have a uk operation now, and they retail at £600 for a pair, so for the extra 80 quid, you may aswell order them from buddyclub uk.

check out //www.buddyclubuk.com

Oh bugger:(, I think I better change my order for a medium then. The vendor asked me how much I weigh and I would hardly call myself a lard arse, but he seemed to think I would never fit  a medium. The large ones measure 508mm across the entire width of the horizontal plane of the seat and the medium is 490mm..for next time you happen to be around your car with a tape measure :)

Hi Dan
Shoulder to shoulder (ie. the widest part of the entire seat) measurements are 545mm for medium and 585mm for the large. The widest section of the lower half of the seat would be 490mm and 508mm respectively. I emailed Rotary Extreme who I am getting my seats from, asking if they remember what size it was they sent you, but no reply as of yet. Thanks for going to the trouble though mate    :) BTW did you get stung for vat? Did they take long to arrive?

I\'ve got some Brides in my car.
I\'ll get out the tape measure for dimensions, as they fit well and i\'m a solid 16 stone.....:D...better get some carbon fibre bits!! :p

Right, they are deffinatly 545....so medium.

I think if i remember rightly, that 520 figure was including the vat...like a final price.

It took a couple of weeks for him to get it in stock, then about a week to get to mine.

Chuck who runs rotary extreme is a top guy in my opinion....i got my re-amemiya rear diffuser from him, and i ordered my greddy t78, greddy 3 row cooler, clutch, flywheel, fuel system just a couple of weeks ago.
The guys a star, great rpices, and quick delivery....and helps with the import tax ;)

Highly reccomended.

Sorry, it was import tax I meant, not vat. Chuck did say he could do some creative invoicing, but the insurance would have to reflect what\'s on the invoice unfortunately.
Dan, do you think an extra 2cm on each side of the shoulder bolsters would cause problems..?

Hi Pete
There nice seats you got there, I seem to recall you bought them off someone on FDUK. The problem I think I\'ll face with my new seats is the  half roll cage getting in the way..

Hi Lawrence,
Yes, i see what your saying...i imagine the main area of concern would be where the roll cage attaches at the side of the seat..if it\'s closer to the rear footwell there wouldn\'t be a problem.
BTW, i got the seats from Martin Sintler, who had a lovely black single turbo RX7..I wonder where it\'s got to??

Yea, he said that to me aswell....but it all arrived safely anyway.

Looking at the seats in my car tonight......then yea....the 2cm would make a differance....its tight for space using the slimmer ones!

I would go thinner for sure.

Those Buddy club and Bride seats are sweet.  Why did I bother getting mine retrimmed (front and back) in leather when I could have put some of those puppies in? If only I\'d known 18 months ago!

Sell your leathers and get some chris, either the red or black buddyclubs would go well with your colour car.

Just think tho chris.....if someone could lend you some old spare seats....then you could get the interior out of yours, put it up for sale....then you would have enough cash to just order the new seats :D

Im finally ready for those nice buddyclub seats now.
Am I right that Medium is the largest size that will fit in the car ??
Im 5,11", 12 & 1/2 stone, 53.5 cm shoulder and 32" waist.  Can I fit in the medium nice and comfortably?
Finally, seat frame/rails.
What do you guys use? Cobra universal side mounts? Do these make you seat higher or lower than stock seats? Lastly, how do I fit the seat belt thingy? the female bit...... ??

Thanks

What do you guys do about subframes?
Title: Buddy Club seats..
Post by: Jin Kazama on July 07, 2006, 04:39:04 PM
The large seats will fit in, but it such a tight squeeze that the back/ forward sliding movement is a bit restricted. As to your fitment into a medium, I would insist you try one out first, as body shapes, and what people are willing to tolerate in terms of discomfort differ greatly.
I have used recaro subframes. If you use recaro, you can get high or low positioned one - go for the low ones. The higher one will have your steering wheel in your knackers.
Unless you want to remove the seatbelt receiver and somehow fit it onto the new seat (not advisable) you will have to get some harnesses I\'m afraid.

Hi Jin,
Thanks for the info.
Mind me asking where you got the recaro subframes from?
Did you notice seat hight difference with that set up, compared to the stock\'s?
Would really like to be able to use the seat belts.  I have harness for driver side, but sometime you just cant be bother to use it.  (not that comfortable say, after a huge meal? :Laugh )
Besides, it\'d be a pain to adjust it everytime I take a different passenger :spank

:cheers

I got them with the seats - from Rotaryextreme USA. The seat height with low recaro sf\'s is a tiny bit lower than stock.

Maybe I should order them from there as well then. Save me finding those frames which might turn out to be the wrong one  :cheers

Have sent Chuck a mail.  On his page.  It stated that they are in the middle of moving, so not taking any new orders until further notices.  Hope he\'ll reply soon.

Cheers Jin for all the help  :cheers

Right.
Got a reply from Rotaryextreme.  They\'ve only got a seat left, and it\'s large not medium.  I take it it\'s too big?
Also, can someone tell me where I could buy a low position recaro sub frame from??

Thanks
