Title: Air controll valve FD
Post by: 907 on March 28, 2005, 11:02:22 PM
Anyone else had any problems with the air control valve assy.
There are two separate valves inside, one of which the return spring has rotted into 3 pieces and on the other one the seal has turned to concrete and wont seal anymore.
I have replaced the spring with what I think is a similar strength one, and was contemplating machining a piece of rubber into a seal but am unsure of how long it will last.
Unfortunately the Mazda parts book only list the whole assy pt N3A3-13-990 at £312 + vat.
Does anyone have any input on this.
Cheers Neil.

Had the same problem last year.  Got a complete ACV (second hand) from Pip, c/w gasket and check valvy thing for under £50.00 IIRC, came next day in the post.  Dont even bother trying to repair it

Cheers

Its to do with emissions and controlling the air from the airpump into the system, and the check vale stops the exhaust gases flowing out through the airpump inlet ( one way valve).
