Hi Patrick,

Real sorry to hear of your woes:( :(

Is it just the Porcelain top part that has broken or has it broken and  left just the thread in ??????

hi clive, the porcelain part has broken and the pin that the porcelain covers has snapped off too, there fore i am left with the nut and thread in place, if you can picture what i mean, basically i can get a socket onto it, but it is so tight it will hardly budge!!

so the porcelain and the bit it covers has come off!!!

any ideas as to what the damage it may cause to the engine running it like this? as i am in oxford right now and need to get back to work in london wednesday morning!!!

The plug it self won\'t cause a problem.
It sounds like the trailing plug from your description.
The engine can run only on a leading plug with no real probs, but get it looked at asap.Be careful of what you do with the high tension plug lead, the coil will want to spark to somewhere,if you can re-attach it on the plug that is damaged that would be best.Regards
Carl

thanks for the replies, thanks carl, so the top plug is the trailing plug right?? and driving with JUST the leading plug is not a problem right?? i just need a bit of reassurance, as am very paranoid right now as you would be!!

so stick the plug lead somewhere safe, and leave the plug stuck in there until i can get someone to have a look at it asap right??

cheers, anymore advice from anyone would be great!! cheers!!!

Run the car up at idle for 10mins to warm everything up.  Then have a go at removing the remains of the spark plug.

Try what Brett said and just use even pressure and don\'t be tempted to yank it undone or it will snap.

Plugs in these engines bite up frighteningly tight at time but always seem to come out, eventually !

thanks for the replies guys!! its all been done now, the problem was that the threads had crossed which is why it wasnt budging!! so i ended up taking it to a local garage to take it out for me, anyhow, thanks all for the replies!!
