Title: Tyres?
Post by: Grizzly on March 28, 2005, 06:32:47 PM
Ok i have a question for you all.

I am thinking of getting some new rims for my T2 but i am looking at the performance gains rather than the looks and there is a bit of a Buget issue too.

Would i be better buying some S**t hot tyres for for my stock rims but taking into account there is a Width restriction? or buy some new rims that are wider and use cheaper tyres?

Also i have noticed that most aftermarket rims out there in the UK are gear\'d up for FWD cars thus not having wider rears as an option? they are also set up for the Scally Boy racers who want looks and not performance so they are made from Monkey metal and weigh rather alot.

Any sugestions?

Chris

You summed it up well.

What about keeping an eye out for a 2nd hand set of rims?

Isnt Gman selling his at the moment.  Not to everyones taste admitedly but good tyres, wide and lightweight I expect.

yeah most alloys weight a ton!! You can get lightweight ones but most of them cost a fortune.

Dont get cheap tyres if your looking for performance, a good set of tyres can make a massive diffrence to the grip!!

Not to thread hijack, but just wandering gman, how you got on with the tyre combo, any understeer on the 205\'s and any rubbing with 255\'s. Its probably mentioned in another thread but do you know the widths and offset of your rims please buddy.
