Title: stutter is back
Post by: Col on March 26, 2005, 11:33:07 AM
can anyone tell me,

If the air pump has been disconected, the CAT will block up at high temp and revs, will this make the car stutter and lose power at the top end, ie 4000 rpm up?

Will a de-cat pipe stop this,

any thoughts would be help full

cheers Col

If the cat is stuffed, then it will be sluggish and spluttery before 4K as well. Have you considered a boost leak?

Change the fuel filter above the diff and see if that sorts it out?
Can you ease it gradually up through the revs or will it behave like a mule whatever the circumstances?
If all else fails your not too far from Carl\'s... give him a ring and see what he can do.

it is ok when you easy through the revs, but when you give it a little then come 4000rpm in third gear and up it stutters like loss of power, will keep going through the range.

the fuel fitter has only just been changed, just can not think what it can be, the car also smells strong of fuel.

This sounds similar to what mine does, does it only happen when hot? That seems to be the case with mine, it really struggles to idle when hot also.... I did have the airpump unplugged for a while when it broke, but that was ages ago. Maybe its just built up since then? I\'m thinking about the cat obviously.... What ya think?
