Title: Doesn`t start when warm
Post by: Ste C on March 23, 2005, 08:32:29 PM
My 93 rex starts perfectly the first time but once running at full temperature doesn`t like to start at all. I drained my battery at the shell garage the other day trying to start her up and ended getting a push bump start by the people waiting behind me. Anyone  had this problem?

thats usually one of the first signs of low compression on the engine, have you ever had it compression tested ?

What plugs are you running? Since changing my plugs to the ones sent to me by dragon mine hasn\'t been happy starting from hot. I\'m running the same plugs leading and trailing which is different to what it was previously.

Yeah if you try putting new 7\'s (leading) and 9\'s (trailing) in you may be ok. Although by the sound of it a rebuild could be on the cards sooner or later, hopefully later if the new plug trick works.

Pip at WGT checked the compression but i didnt write them down. I do know the front set of readings where around 6.5 and the rear set where around 5.5. My engine was rebuilt just under 4000 miles ago by Hurley  engineering. Pip said the low rear reading may get better in time as its a new rebuild.

Take the car out for a run to get the engine warm then turn off the car and take out your plugs, if any are wet you will most likely have an O ring faliure or start of, also if you have alot of smoke on startup and your cars being a bit thirsty with the coolant these all point to an O ring faliure.
