Title: Single Turbo Kits???????
Post by: rex passion on March 13, 2005, 08:41:51 PM
Hi just a bit of advice I need. Hopefully some of you guys will be able to help?

Are all single turbo conversions the same? E.g. the HKS kit or the greedy one?
They all say that they are a T4 turbo kit with external waste gate, but there is quite a vary  in the prices. For example there is one on Ebay at the moment for £800.00 (buy it now) Will that one be ok? So many options hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks mike
Here is the link for the Ebay one? (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7960319806&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT)

It certainly is very cheap, about as cheap you\'d look wearing those clothes at least :D

Have not heard of xspower, but for the money it does sound unbelievably cheap.  Can only speculate that it\'s either the deal of the century or made from paper mashe... (however the hell you spell mash-eh!)

Just from the photo, I\'m not convinced by the downpipe, looks like you\'d need to weld it up to an existing downpipe.  I\'d also check that it\'s not a US version, I believe they can intefere with the steering rack on UK cars...

i was looking at xs powers website thru ebay. i was gonna go for one of their kits but was put off by the price. for that price they cant be very good. id rather pay the extra money and be assured quality from hks etc etc.

I\'ve looked into single turbo kits in detail recently...particularly a \'DIY\' kit, buying all the bits seperately. I just think that the HKS/Blit z stuff is always overpriced (good but overpriced)

Have a look at RX7CLUB.com in the US, the single turbo forum is the place to be for info and opinions.

The xspower stuff has been given a hard time on the forum....i think mainly \'cause people can\'t believe its not a pile of crap for the money they are asking. The few people that have bought the stuff and have it running have had ok results.....

there may be quality /consistency issues in the stuff they sell, the wastegates in particular. The latest manifolds seem ok, they are thicker and reinforced to prevent cracking, fitment on RHD cars is a worry.

You pay less...you trade a bit of time, thought and fitting issues.

If you want an easy life you send HKS your check (also look at http://www.xs-engineering.com/ )

Think your right at that sort of price its worth paying slightly more for the fitting.
At worst case you could always re sell it on Ebay?
