Title: Its ready!
Post by: Don Pamponi on March 07, 2005, 09:01:47 PM
Well the day has finally arrived - I got to get the RX this saturday.

I wonder what it\'ll be like??  Havn\'t seen it since november when it was covered in road grime & broken down.

Cant wait to pollish it all up & finnish the little bits & peices off (bit of paint work & fitting the boost gauge).

Will post pictures next week once ive cleaned it.

Stay tuned!

Hi Tim

they finished that off quickly,   has he fitted the diff?,   Rich was saying that you will have to run it in now,    once its run in you will have to get it on the rollers to have the microtec mapped.

Will be nice to see what figures you get

drive safely

regards
tony

oooooooooh exciting, are you planning on going to Brooklands next month? (I think it is anyway)

I don\'t know if I\'ll be there in the rx7 ... its not looking likely as I\'m pretty sure I\'m going to have to take it appart to check these throttle bodies fit.

It sounds beautiful... I was following Tim in it today, and it was almost perfectly silent, each and every time he just dabbed the throttle with his foot it roared... I don;t think he took it above about 4K, but it sounded awsome all the way. Gagging to hear that thing go to 9K!!! Even with the turbo spinning up it will sound incredible. You are gonna be one happy man when you drive that thing home!:D

Yeh but it will be worth the wait mate! and plus if you calculate the money that you  would have spent on fuel if you had gotten it abck ...say 3 months ago, then it has probably almost, nearly paid for itself!:)
Anyhoo, hope it all goes well and we get to see and hear of its exploits.
  cheers, michael.

Tis true, I wouldn\'t have been using it much over the winter, but now the sun is out I\'m itching to sort out all the little bits of paintwork, get the stereo in & drive it.

Might fit a remote central locking alarm & posh it up a bit (once my bank has recovered from the HUGE withdrawal I\'m about to make)

It can\'t be that bad, having the UK\'s top 1st Gen Guru fine tuning every last detail. We did a little work on the throttle before the weekend, made it more responsive, checked, tripple checked and checked it all over again. I can\'t help polishing bits in the engine bay whenever I\'m working on it... I\'m bloody obsessed! Shouldn\'t be too long before it\'s run in. Then it\'s rolling road time ;) 200hp here we come. Still one of the finest sounding rx7\'s I\'ve ever heard.
Title: Its ready!
Post by: Timrxmotors on March 19, 2005, 08:33:46 PM
You won\'t need a stereo! All is well.Tuned it today on the rolling road with Geff at Reworx. Only took it to 10psi,but with that it has more rwhp than a stock FD,with just one turbo,no intercooler and a smaller engine. :D

I noticed it said FD3S on that sheet Tim .... but seeing as the registration number is correct I\'ll guess its not another windup :rollin

looking like it\'ll be a quick car ... your going to need some new underpants when you drive that Don !

Well IF its my car then I\'m well happy considering it hasn\'t got its boost contoller yet (I was going to suggest putting it on when I come back for the rolling road after its run in, but hey it seems RX team are way ahead).

Well, some of the spraying was third rate - he didn\'t rub down the bumpers before he sprayed them so bits of paint are peeling off here & there.   The cowboy ripoff merchant stung me good - bad paint & knackered lump & I paid him WELL for it.

So yeah, I\'m not allowing my self to get too excited this time.  The car owes me about 10K now.    I really needed the £££ for my wedding in may & a new van.   So I just feel stupid.
Title: Its ready!

Hey mate, dont feel stupid, come round here, your resonably local, I\'ll show you a car that has had close to 80k spent, I\'ll show you cowboy rip off work, Ill show you my 2 1st gens as well, yours does look good.

Post by: Don Pamponi on March 20, 2005, 04:13:44 PM
Dont get me wrong - I\'ll be dead chuffed when I get it home.  Its just that the timing is all wrong moneywise. (& I\'m still ****ed off at the bloke who sold it to me half done, then I bought an elford kit with a knackered turbo, then the engine blew up on the way home from its 1st outing, & now i\'ve spent too much on the new lump) Bunch of expensive, frustrating 1 year on & still no car a*se!

More expensive than children this car.

Easy tiger!  Lets run it in first eh?  Things tend to blow up doing the 1/4 mile, which is fine if you have another 20 or so engines in your airplane hanger, but for me this probaby a once in a lifetime expense.

When is santa pod going on then?

i think it\'s gonna be quite tricky getting Tim to part with your car... He seems to have become attached to it, and he\'s always talking about it. Maybe you could distract him with a big box of chocolates and run away with your car! I\'ve seen Brian Ellis do it on a number of occasions. On a serious note, I think you should call him and find out. It\'s looking, sounding and performing really well! It will be a shame to see it go. Oh well, guess we\'ll have to get Tim\'s drag car back on the road.:D
