Well what do you all think. Air-con is still there and the bottom tray as well. The bro-in-law and i did it and it all works. The water is stone cold, well pleased. After Max did 12 runs on the rolling road it was still stone cold . More to come on this project for when i go single, as i am going to use in some way or fashion the air-con gas through another charge cooler to ice cool the water and not just for bursts of boost but constant. There is a lot of thinking outside the box involved in the next stage but it will work. I have total confidence. Watch this space. There i\'ve made myself a target but then i like being out there on the edge. Anyway comments and questions please. I\'ve also posted the same pics on FDUK site so sorry if you see the same twice.:cool

She who must be obeyed and I are off out for a meal with friends so my replies may have to wait until later tonight or tomorrow so don\'t think i\'m ignoring your posts.:wave
how much did the charge temp drop?
i think millspeed will like this, hes thinkin of doin this to his fd
very nice by the way:D
As above, did you monitor before and after air temps?.
Is it a complete kit you bought?.
I was thinking about a charge cooler the other day. Me and a mate did some work with one on a sunnny gti-r a few years ago, we used a caravan shower pump to flow the water :D
Thanks lads. I was running standart FD intercooler and pipes before so whatever the standard temp would be the before. We still have to set up temp senser, but as i said this is only the first part of the project i.e. to get this running with the air-con still fitted so that i can use the air-con system to bring the temps right down. Those are the figs i am interested in, but yes i will post temps when i can measure them .
The set up comes as a kit it\'s by PWR Aussie firm, you get the charge cooler, rad, electric fan, electric water pump and top rad filler unit plus rad cap for it as well as all the fitting instructions for the system. I got it from Geff at Reworx. He runs the system on the red car and it\'s what the lads down in Aussie use on there rotary rockets and we all know what fantastic times they are running the 1/4 mile in.
You do need to have the time and basic skills to get everything to fit, if anyone is thinking of it then PM me and i can run them through the install. When the lads at Reworx saw the workmanship of the install they were impressed, respect to my bro-in-law.
I\'ve got that same kit coming from Reworx, should be here in the next couple of weeks. Got me all excited seeing your install, can\'t wait now. A bit suprised at the size of charge cooler though, did\'nt realise it was that big.

I\'ve sent you a PM. If you look at the close up shot of the cc you can see that we have also cut down the original air intake for the stock intercooler to scoop flowing air over the cc and into the engine bay. There are a few other hidden extra fabricating things we have done. We have kept the AST at the correct height, moved the battery without extending the cables and kept the air-con as well as still managed to re-fit the original undertray, and relocated the power steering piping. It took us 2 days to get it spot on. Oh get hold of two of the toggle switches to fit in the blanks in your centre consol by the ashtray you will need one for the water pump, the other for the fan. I\'ve used the fog light ones got them from a local scappy who has some dead FD\'s.
Mate that\'s awesome! I\'ve got that exact same charge cooler sat in my parts cave. Lovely install, I bet there\'s zero lag with such a short intake tract...especially with the stock twins. Am defo going to use mine now.
Millspeed, if you need any more info ring me on 07771882430 and thanks for the comments and yes you are right. I love it when a plan starts to come together.:cheers
Will do mate, cheers.
Dude,
That thing looks massive, nice piece of engineering though, sounds like a lot of work went that one. Was thinking about it myself, but just looking at it makes me think FMIC, but then again - who knows.
