Hi, Just got my intercooler :) and im going to have to make the pipes for it :( Ive got a bit of a mish mash of pipes and i think im just going to make some fresh stuff. Does anybody know what size bore the Greddy Bend going into the plenum is on the pipe join end. Looking at ordering one, but want to get the ball rolling on the silicon pipe joiners. Looking at making it 70mm dia pipe. Its got 70mm outlets on both sides and i can get stuff through work for the pipes !
The pipe on the right has just been chucked on, not sure if its the right one !!!

can you get the metal bends? id be interested in some. 60mm and 70mm.
Im almost positive i can by 180deg bends through work. Main reason for buying it. All i need to then is mock it up and get it welded at work ! But that will take quite a bit of time. Will find out tommorrow. They have straight on the rack already :)
Shaun
im in the same position as you. i have all samco hoses but want to make them from inconell or titainium. :rollin :rollin
but steel will be fine. can we do a deal on some pipe then.
I\'ll get you some prices tommorrow at work, see what they can do for both of us !
Shaun
Looking at making it in aluminium :) they have stainelss as well, but its alot harder to work with !
Shaun
ok. even better
I think after chatting to a couple of people i\'m going to end up using some straight aluminum pipe and create all my bends with silicone hose !! Ordered a poished Greedy bend from Dragon as well !
Going to take some time to get it all together !!! Slowly getting there though !
May look at taking the pipe to a custom exhast maker and see if they can bend me some of the straight, but that may not be possible.
Cheers
Shaun
Hello shaun. sounds like the fun has begun.
Scott
wow, that is looking so sweet. Im starting to understand why it took you a long time to do !!! Very nice layout in the car. Have to admit im miles away from getting it sorted. Everything is basically ordered, bar the silicon for the intercooler. That will be done v.soon !
Bit scared of taking the front of the car to bits. Looking like it will be at the end of the month before i start. Need car in middle of the month. I\'ve had it jacked up today to have a look at taking the bumper off and taking the intercooler and piping out. Put it back together again when the weather started to turn ! I\'m going to try and not remove the radiator so i don\'t have to drain the system till later, but that may make it alot harder. Got my red coolant hoses too !
Looking at it all in and tuned by rotorstock, maybe with an upgraded radiator and bigger injectors as well, but bank account willing.
Hows yours running, has it made a big difference in intake temps and performance. What size injectors are you running ????
Cheers again
Shaun
Its lookin ok now. still got bits to do but it drives very well. water temp is now 80deg constant and peaks at about 85 in traffic. because i moved it all about i managed to make some bad ass ducting for the intake and the rad.
Its easy to take apart. are you keeping the air con ?
The intercooler is engine bay mounted on my car. If yours is the same you will have to remove the rad. You might as well remove it and leave it empty for a while.
Still running the stock fuel system. gotta have it mapped asap.
Im hopefully keeping the aircon for the min and the airpump ! Its a stock intercooler at the min, just worried about refilling the coolant system. Read that it is a hard process to prevent an air-lock in the system when refilling the coolant in the system. I\'ve ordered a alloy ast from pip as well so that will get fit at the same time.
Just trying to make it run as happy as possible, reduce the intake temps to as low as possible !
Have you still got the stock radiator in ? Nice to see the lower temps as well. What temps do you see on the air intake ??
What kind of BHP are you looking for once its mapped ??
What size injectors will you be putting in next ??
Cheers
Shaun
If you do it properly its not hard. pm me if i can help you any anyway.
My rad is the stock one. dispite what many will make you believe its a very good unit. If it gets bad in the summer then i will react to it then. i have put in some major ducts in for it tho.
My ECU wont display on a commador so cant coment on charge temps.
As for the injectors im gonna see how it looks on the datalogit and then decide.
Scott
PS got loads of pic if you want any. they may help
I think the stock stuff isn\'t all that bad. I just seem to struggle getting the air temp down once it has warmed up. I think the intercooler up front should help alot.
The PFC commander is great for looking at whats going on for temps, very nice peice of kit.
I think im just worried over nothing. Just going to wait till the end of the month then get it sorted.
Thanks for all the photos and i\'l try and log all the stuff i do for a howto !
Cheers
Shaun
Sounds all good stuff mate.
I have a NX ntercooler kit to go on just incase the charge temp rockets.
mine just took too long coz i moved loads of stuff and had to do loads of extra work but it seems to have paid off.
Scott
Well im taking off the air pump to send away to pip to get something in it fixed as well. Hopefully it shouldn\'t take more than a few weekends to sort out. Im not removing as much as you and using the original plastic y pipe (for the min)
Has anybody got any good how to\'s on removing all the intercooler and radiator. Seems to look like a start at the top and work down but just wondering if there is any interesting points ??
Cheers for all the info.
Shaun
im currently doing the same - but fitting custom mount intercooler ally rad and a few other bits n bobs, still waiting on other hoses to come so i can get on, trying to get the car back on the road for april, :)
shaun. I would start off by removing the air box and various pipes to it. then the battery, then intercooler. The rad only has 2 nuts which hold it down. do you have any diagrams..... or need
Scott
I\'ve got the 1993 workshop manual pdf, and been reading it. Trying to get as much info before it all comes out. The intercooler has been modded to sit lower, so that may make some more problems. The battery isn\'t a problem now ! Got a pure lead in the boot all wired in :)
I suppose its that first look over the ledge thinking what have i done i need to get over. Will definately get there and hopefully should be in and tuned by rotorstock !
Although may want to do a couple of other things before i have it tuned. What are the next size injectors available ?
Looking forward to it running at more than 0.5 bar (yep, you read it right, still only at 7psi !!! from rebuild)
Cheers Guys
Shaun
it does sit very high as a standard unit which is why i got the nx kit. It may cause you problems with the air con condensor. it may be in the way.
once air the air box and ic is out it should look like this. this is a tad messy.... LOL
junk that and it changes to this
i moved mine so its sits tight to the front cross member. Its about 1inch further forward which helped with the rad.
SCott
I am looking forward to getting it done. Very impressed with the job you did !
Shaun
Just for anybody interested i\'ve just ordered some alloy bends. When searching on google i only found to likely company. This seemed to be the best.

Shaun
Had an email from woolfe saying that they only supply to canada and usa. What a complete farse. Whats the point in having international shipping on their web page. Talking to a company called tube craft in the uk that may be able to help. Depends on the wall thickness available.
Keep you updated !
Shaun
Got my Hose clips today. Very nice.Proper Bolt clips, rolled edges and wide :)
From a company in birmingham called holdtite uk. Bit overkill, but extremely good quality.
Looking at taking the bits out on the weekend. And so it begins............
Shaun
if you need a hand shaun - give us a shout - i can just about handle a spanner :)
lol, i hope i can too :)
Shaun
I got them hose clips from Abbey hose place in Dagenham, in Kent. Top nosh, value for money, extra wide and tigh them once and forget about it forever.
got the piping sorted for my water injaction system from them. They may be able to help you with pipping for sure, very friendly and helpfull.
Cheers
Cheers, I think pip may be coming to the rescue on the pipe front. Just need to have it tig welded at work the !
