Title: Apexi fitted - at last
Post by: johnf on March 01, 2005, 08:40:49 PM
Well having owned the car for two years and being advised that it would benefit from an Apexi ECU and commander I finally found  enough spare cash to have one.

Been down with Geff at Reworx today, had it fitted and mapped.

Very freindly guy, nice set up, shame he\'s a bit of a way away from me.

Anyway the car drives completely differently, smoother and seems quicker. The only dissapointment when I got home was that I thought I\'d read the book to see what the hand held info and buttons was all about. Anyone got one in English:D

One of the main reasons for having it done was to try and improve on my misserable 13mpg. Took over 3/4 tank to get there and 1/2 to get back, so it looks promising.

The car is .98 Blitz induction and exhaust and was sold to me as being street ported by Hurley.

Produced a very reasonable 253 at the wheels.

Ok - next question.

Apart from the commander being a nice little gizmo on the dash with useful data displayed am I supposed to do anything with it?

I paid £250- + vat for the fitting and mapping.

It\'s also beneficial to have on the machinary as it shows up any potential problems you didn\'t know you had.

I think you can only store 1 at a time, I wasn\'t aware you could switch to/store a different map, can you?

I paid the same, £250 + VAT for fitting and tuning.  Took about 9 runs I think to dial mine in.

I just use the monitor on mine, set to water temp and air temp.

Had a pfc and commander on my last car, and no you can\'t have dual maps with the apexi ecu.

No you can\'t have more than one map on the PFC, why would you want more than one?

Those running on seq. twins have a choice of two boost settings on the PFC. As you are running a single I presume you have a boost controller, so you could set two boost settings there.

Having driven the car now for a couple of days I must say the difference is amazing - feels like a totally different car.

Smoother, quicker and even more fun to drive than it was before  :D  and I thought it was good then.

Money well spent..........................
