Title: Reverse Light
Post by: fatfingers on March 01, 2005, 02:16:17 PM
Does anyone know what fuse the reverse light shares? mine doesn\'t work but it\'s not listed on the fusebox cover.

Also it passed it\'s MOT like this, do cars not need a reverse light?

Mine reverse light does not function either.  However it is not needed for MOT.  Just keep an eye behind you when reversing.

Check the manual that came with the car, or if you have access to a haynes manual check that.  I Have a 1st Gen and the fuse in the fuse block that controls the reverse lights is 8 and it should be a 10A fuse.  If the fuse is not to blame have a look underneath the car at the rear of the tranny, the electrical connector for the back-up is here.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a faulty reversing light switch. £50 sorted it with a new switch from Rotechniks.

I don\'t think the reverse light has it\'s own fuse so if it could be your switch is knackered if everything else is working. Is your temp guage also going out? For some reason when my reverse lights died the temp guage also stopped working. I think it was something to do with a shared fuse - the new swtiched solved both problems anyway.
