Title: Hi, new member with a question or 2?
Post by: willscars2807 on February 26, 2005, 06:12:37 PM
Hi guys, im new to this board, owned alot of jap cars over the years, and have finally settled on the idea of a Rotary, ive heard amazing things, and took out my first fc, found it brilliant.
Its got 65,ooo miles so im guessing its due a re0build, its an import and is auto, i only drive autos, so im ltd to an import.
Im just wondering how you guys enjoy yours?
Im going to mod it, if i have a re-build i iwill take advantage of the situation. Are parts still available for these beasts. As i know they are still popular in Japan.
Oh and whoever owns that black import with the racing 3-spoke alloys, thats the reason why i decided to get one. STUNNING!!!

Hi Bud

 Welcome aboard........

I\'m also new round here and like you new to the Rotors!

Doing abit of digging and seems to be alot of new and used bits that are available all about. From standard to aftermarket gear.
So you shouldn\'t be dissappointed really!

Poor activity in these parts though....

I think mine is the black import you are talking about:D

I wouldn\'t be selling mine unless i had to, found a US site to be quite handy -  //www.teamfc3s.org/forum

4k, it is set up for drifting so only a hardcore drifter will buy it i think.

It does look the biz i will be sorry to see it go.

This is a quote from Grinder on another thread

if you can ship the engine to pip - you are looking at just short of 1800 for a rebuild - if you take the car to him then you are looking at about 2400 or there abouts

Pip is WGT in cheshire, good rebuilder so i am told.  I (touch wood) have not had to rebuild either my 3rd or 2nd gen.

SO ITS NOT A DEFINATE THING TO RE-BUILD, FROM WHAT I HEARD IT WAS A MUST. ARE THE IMPORTS A BIT SAFER, AS THE JAPS DO TEND TO DO LESS MILEAGE, AND SPEND MORE ON MAINTENANCE?

If you get a compresson reading it will give you an idea on when a re build will be due.  But then again anything can happen.

I wouldn\'t say imports are better off, apart from they tend to be re stricted to 112 mph.  It is often difficult to find one with a history so you take your chances.  You can get an importer to find you one with the exact requirements but you may have to pay slightly more.

I have one lined up , it has under 70,000 miles, is an import and has history, so im keeping my fingers crossed.
I believe its a late one possibly 91, what is the going rate for one of these, because im not being told the final price yet?

Like you wouldnt believe, its like looking at porn. Absolutley amazing. Was it at billing last year, because i missed it . Got to say it is by far the best looking jap car i have ever seen in my life. And i think i have seen nearly every popular model. DONT SELL IT. If it was an auto and under £2000 i would have it, shame im poor and a bad driver LOL!!!

It was at billing, its ace having such a great track car just wish i could afford to get on the track a bit more.

Will only sell it if i am offered the asking price - otherwise see it at rotorstock.

Cool, just heard mine has had a full re-build 3000miles ago. With receipt. The price is £1000, 70k miles on the clock.
I think thats worth it?

I think so, see if it has any warranty.  Also check for rust, shouldn\'t be too much of a problem with an import but its worth a check.
