Title: Additional injectors/larger injectors
Post by: muzzyd on February 24, 2005, 01:38:37 PM
I have been reading through some of the old posts on injectors and may be looking to upgarde my rx in the future.  I am a little confused by some of the ideas.

Can you have 850cc primary injectors and secondary?  and can I add additional injectors?

If you choose to have 1300cc injectors does this mean a new fuel rail?

Will I need to upgrade the fuel pump if the injectors are added/upgraded?

Currently my car is set up with large exhaust, filter, uprated ecu, fmic, uprated twins running at 1.1bar (too high but awaiting an apexi).

I dealliy I am looking to be safe by lowering the boost and adding larger or additional injectors incase of future mods.  What is the cheapest and ideal option for me?

Yes you can have the 850s fitted as primarys with a slight modification to make them fit, you can fit 1300s in the standard fuel rail because they are bored out 850s.
You will need an upgraded fuel pump and reg to get the best out of it and to be safe.

In terms of future mods and cost if you are going Single then I would recommend going for the KGPARTS kit which include Custom fuel rail, 2x1680cc secondary injectors (brand new),new injector connectors, fuel reg, and braided fuel lines, and blocking plate the cost of the kit was about £450 inc vat, the kit only cost an extra £50 then having just 2x bored out 1300s .

You are running 1.1 bar! I hope you have an upgraded ECU of some sort! You will need to get an Apexi Power FC asap and you will need it if you are upgrading injectors as you can tell the Power FC about bigger injectors so it can adjusts its map to suit. You cannot run bigger injectors on a standard ECU

Yup got a panracing ecu, I wasnt wanting anything over excessive and may one day want to port the engine and fitting a single turbo is still a long way off.   all I have planned for now is the bigger injectors with an apexi fitted at a lower boost, maybe 0.9bar.

Would the 1300cc suffice and be the most viable option with a fuel regulator and pump?  Or am I being a little over cautious with the fuelling?

I am suspecting that this wont be cheap?

well if u go for the reg and the 1300cc injectors that will cost you more  then the 1680cc fuel Kit, try ReWorx thats where I got my 1680 kit from I also bought my Bosch Fuel Pump as well.

What ever Fuel option you go for, budget for £600 total including pump

PS I dont think you are being over cautious, as you might go lean then bye bye engine, better be safe then sorry
